Kevin Hart is set to feature in a new action-comedy TV show on Quibi. The show -- entitled Die Hart -- will focus on a fictionalized version of Hart who, tired of being cast as a comedic sidekick, pursues his life-long dream of becoming a leading action star in the same vein as his good friend, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

In order to accomplish this ambition, however, Hart needs to attend the "world's greatest action star school" which is run by an unhinged teacher named Ron Wilcox, played by John Travolta. Wilcox then puts Hart through several unprecedented trials and tests to help the actor in his attempts to step out of the shadow of his comedic roles to become the leading man he dreams of. Things are made more complicated thanks to a rival student, played by Nathalie Emmanuel, who pushes Hart as far as he can go.

A recently released trailer hyping the release of the show features plenty of self-referential and self-deprecating humor, with the majority of it taking place at Hart's expense as the actor is forced to face combat, explosions, and life-threatening scenarios, including a scene where a last-minute change of heart sees him dangling dangerously off a bridge.

The show was created by Tripper Clancy -- who has previously written Stuber and worked on Netflix show, I Am Not Okay With This --  and Derek Kolstad who wrote the popular revenge trilogy, John Wick. Hart acts as an executive producer of the show. It is unknown at this time if any of Hart's famous action movie friends may appear in the show to further its meta-narrative, though given his close friendship with The Rock it's not out the realm of possibility.

Die Hart stars Kevin Hart and will be available to stream on Quibi from July 20.
