For being out for a short time, Kena: Bridge of Spirits has certainly made a good impression as Ember Labs’ debut game. From its good storyline to beautiful graphics, Kena is a great game for any kind of player in almost any age group. Combat is pretty easy to understand and the gameplay will make both beginner and veteran players happy.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits seems like a pretty simple game, but there are still some things players might not do. Neglecting certain parts of the game or doing specific mistakes can make the campaign a lot harder and less enjoyable.

10 Explore The Areas Thoroughly

Kena: Bridge Of Spirits Exploring the Area

One thing players should always do while playing Kena: Bridge of Spirits is to explore the areas. There are hidden Rot, accessories for them, Spirit Mail that can be delivered, and Karma waiting for Kena to discover. The Rot not only help Kena in battle, but they can move large objects and other key objects for her.

With Karma, Kena and the Rot can learn more abilities that will help out a lot in combat. Make sure to look up and down while exploring. A lot of things can be missed if players don’t pay attention to their surroundings.

9 Do Not Over Rely On The Shield

Kena: Bridge Of Spirits Shield Pulse combat

It is a good thing that Kena has a shield to protect her from attacks, but players shouldn’t rely on this too much. The shield should be used only in the direst situations and should be timed perfectly for parrying enemy attacks. While it can last a while against regular enemies, it won’t last long in a boss fight. The bosses hit hard in Kena: Bridge of Spirits and the shield’s power can only last so long in the battle.

It is recommended that players learn to time using the shield to parry. This alone can save players a lot of time and frustration during boss fights.

8 Constantly Upgrade Kena’s Abilities & Rot

Combat in Kena is simple and a little reminiscent of The Legend of Zelda, but this shouldn’t fool players. Some might not think to upgrade abilities and this could prove to be fatal. Upgrade the abilities so Kena can have more powerful heavy attacks and can use the Rot more in battle.

The Rot have some pretty strong attacks that can deplete an enemy’s health quicker than Kena’s combos and heavy attacks. It’s worth getting the Karma needed for them.

7 Avoid Using The Rot Too Early In Battle

Kena: Bridge Of Spirits Kena and the Rot

The Rot can be game-changers, especially in boss fights. However, using them too early can be a drawback. On one hand, using them as soon as they’re ready can take out a good chunk of a boss’s health, but on the other hand, they might then not be ready when needed. Players should make sure they have enough Courage to perform a Rot attack but have enough to keep in case it is needed for a vital part of the battle.

Building up Courage can be difficult in some boss fights. Unless the players know how to build it up quickly without taking too much damage, it's best to use the Rot attacks wisely.

6 Target Vital Points In Boss Fights

The boss fights in the game are pretty tough, even for vet players. Enemies relentlessly attack Kena and make it hard to get attacks in. There are certain points that players can hit on the boss to incapacitate them, but it can be a little tricky to strike them since the bosses are constantly moving around the battlefield. Players should look for the vital parts to hit and quickly get some combos in before the boss is back up.

The vital points of bosses come in different forms. It can be something that’s glowing and hanging somewhere on them or glowing crystals on their bodies. Hit these points whenever possible and strategize when to hit them.

5 Master The Parry's Timing

Kena: Bridge Of Spirits Kena training

Trying to survive fights is already tough, but parrying enemy attacks is even more difficult. It is easy to ignore doing this action and just roll-dodging or jumping to avoid enemy attacks. However, it’s not that simple at times.

When fighting bosses, the area can seem or feel pretty closed in, and there isn't usually much room to constantly run. This is especially the case if there are rotted areas that can slow and drain Kena. Parrying an enemy attack might be the only way to get a few hits in since it’ll stun the enemy. Get used to parrying; it is a technique that needs to be mastered.

4 Do Not Ignore The Red Crystal Treasure Chests

Kena: Bridge Of Spirits Red Crystal Chests Kena and the Rot

It seems and feels like a huge hassle to unlock the red crystal treasure chests, but players should not ignore them. These chests can provide some items that Kena might need throughout her journey and sometimes Rot can be found in them. It can be frustrating to meet the requirements to get these chests open, but it is worth it.

These chests require the player to defeat a certain amount of enemies within a time limit. The good thing about it, if the player doesn’t complete the requirement, it can be redone immediately and the chest doesn’t disappear. If anything, these moments serve as combat practice for the player.

3 Meditation Is A Must

Kena: Bridge Of Spirits Kena meditating

It might seem boring, but meditation is a must in Kena: Bridge of Spirits. This will help raise Kena’s max health bar which is always a welcomed thing. Kena’s max health doesn’t get many chances to improve so meditating will help with this.

Aside from this, it slows down the game and gives players a small chance to relax and look at the beautiful surroundings in the game.

2 The Mini-Games Can Provide Goodies

Kena: Bridge Of Spirits mini-games bow and arrow

After Rusu teaches Kena her Spirit Bow skill, there are a few mini-games the players can do to practice their sniping skills. It might seem unnecessary, but these mini-games give some pretty nice rewards if completed.

Players can earn a lot of crystals from this which means there will be plenty of currency to buy the Rot their cute hats. Plus, the experience does help players practice their aim and learn how to quickly shoot their arrows.

1 Do Not Underuse The Mask

Kena: Bridge Of Spirits Kena mask

Using the mask during the game might not seem like it’s needed, but players should use it regularly throughout their travels. The mask allows Kena to see hidden things in the area around her. This can lead to treasures and even help her find more Rot. Finding Rot is essential in the game because the more that Kena finds, the higher her level will be. The boss fights are already tough so Kena needs to be ready and at a good level to take them on.

It may seem trivial, but the mask can be a huge help when traveling around. Players should not overlook this seemingly minor action.
