So far, 2021 is shaping up to be an interesting year for games, with the effects of the coronavirus pandemic causing an already-sparse release calendar to push back a number of games even further. However, that's given projects like Kena: Bridge of Spirits a chance to steal the spotlight, and the game did just that with its latest trailer. In fact, the trailer almost makes Kena look like a dark Pixar game.

Debuting today during GamesRadar's Future Game Show, the new Kena: Bridge of Spirits trailer doesn't offer a ton as far as new gameplay details are concerned, but it does show just how dazzling the game's art style is shaping up to be. Some of the trailer's early moments show protagonist Kena alongside the wide-eyed creatures seen in the game's previous marketing material, and they boast the iconic look of big-budget animated movies.

Not all of the footage in the trailer is brand new, but fans do get to see a few flashy scenes from the game. For the most part, this is in line with some of the other Kena: Bridge of Spirits gameplay that fans have gotten a peek at, with a lot of the trailer focusing on Kena's ability to transform the environment back into lush, green nature.

Announced in 2020, Kena: Bridge of Spirits has been featured in a number of game showcases since it was revealed. Each time, fans learn a little bit more about the project, with a solid amount of gameplay now floating around in the wild. While it isn't the most triple-a game slated to release this year, it does seem to have piqued the interest of many gamers so far, which does put it in a healthy position for when it launches.

Originally, the game was meant to release in 2020, but Kena: Bridge of Spirits has been delayed to August 2021. It's another example of the toll global circumstances can have on a development team, though one can hope that things go smoothly from here on out. It's possible that the game is delayed further than 2021, simply judging by how many other games have been delayed this year on top of Kena, though it appears to be shaping up nicely.

Luckily, Kena: Bridge of Spirits isn't a full-priced game either, so fans won't have to invest as much into it as they have had to invest into other PS5 games. How that shakes out in terms of how long the game is is still a mystery, but odds are it'll be here before fans know it.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits is in development for PC, PS4, and PS5.
