Kena: Bridge of Spirits is finally out, giving fans the chance to check out the adorable action-adventure game that's been compared to the likes of Pikmin and The Legend of Zelda. While Kena: Bridge of Spirits players are working their way through Kena's adventure, they will have the chance to take in some truly impressive sights and may want to capture those moments using Photo Mode. Like many modern games, Kena: Bridge of Spirits has a Photo Mode option, though its implement is done a bit better here than in many other games.

Most other games slap a Photo Mode on with a bunch of filters, but Kena makes Photo Mode a bit more involved. When Kena: Bridge of Spirits players first enter Photo Mode, their subjects and the game world around them will be frozen in time, as is the case with most Photo Modes. However, players are able to bring the scene to life with a press of a button, bringing animation back to Kena, her Rot followers, and any other characters that happen to be in the scene at the time.

By reanimating the Kena: Bridge of Spirits characters, players have the opportunity to take unique photos that they would be difficult to pull off in other Photo Modes. Taking things a step further, Kena: Bridge of Spirits players can pose the characters with another button tap thanks to the "Cheese!" button. This makes Kena and anyone else in frame strike a pose, with different poses and photo opportunities possible based on one's location and who else is in the frame.

Since Kena: Bridge of Spirits offers players unique photo ops depending on who is in frame, it encourages them to take photos of all the characters they come across in the game. This makes using the Kena: Bridge of Spirits Photo Mode more involved and more fun than similar modes in other games, and it would be great to see other titles lift some of these ideas for use in their own Photo Modes.

Photo Mode has been an increasingly popular feature in games, and one has to imagine that developers will continue innovating and improving it. In games with impressive graphics like Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Photo Mode can help get the word out about just how good the game looks, potentially driving up interest in it in the process. Kena: Bridge of Spirits' positive critical reception should help with that as well, and it will definitely be interesting to see how well it's embraced by PlayStation fans once the dust settles.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits is out now for PC, PS4, and PS5.
