Indie developer Ember Lab's charming debut game, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, has captivated players since its launch on PS5, PS4, and PC last week. Having successfully blended together nostalgic PS2-era-inspired gameplay mechanics with an almost Disney-esque level of graphical fidelity, the studio has likely ensured Kena: Bridge of Spirits is a breakout hit.

One of the standout aspects of the entire Kena: Bridge of Spirits experience, is the relatively small cast of characters who populate the action-adventure game. Featuring a mix of newcomers and experienced video game voice actors, players might recognize some of the talent that brings the gorgeous world to life from a number of different places.

Despite Kena: Bridge of Spirits being Dewa Ayu Dewi Larassanti first voice acting role, the Balinese musician and dancer confidently brings the game's titular spirit guide to life. Having practiced for the part with her mother Emiko, herself a voice actor, Larassanti embodies the character’s desire to help everyone she encounters no matter what. What's even more remarkable about Larassanti's performance is the fact that she also showcases her musical talents within the game, as she performs with the Balinese ensemble group Gamelan Cudamani, who composed and recorded its moving score.

In the opening stages of Kena: Bridge of Spirits players are introduced to Saiya and Beni, two young siblings who play a pivotal role in the narrative of Ember Lab's debut adventure. Voiced by Sam Cavallaro and Joshua Vincent respectively, being two of the youngest actors within the ensemble cast naturally ensures that the pair are just starting their careers. Cavallaro has however already lent her voice to a number of educational apps, and actually appears within the game alongside her real-world sibling Charlie Cavallaro, who voices the younger incarnation of Kena.

Tod Fennell's Taro

Central to the touching story of Kena: Bridge of Spirits is Saiya and Beni's teenage brother Taro, a tragic spirit that the player has to help ascend to the afterlife. Tod Fennell provides the voice of the character, with the Canadian actor having previously appeared in the Goosebumps "Deep Trouble" storyline alongside Laura Vandervoort back in 1996.

In more recent times the actor has fallen in love with voice acting in particular, and has subsequently taken up roles in games like Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Maneater, and Far Cry New Dawn. Within the Assassin's Creed universe in particular Fennell has voiced a number of important recognizable figures as well, ranging from George Washington in Assassin's Creed: Rogue, to Abstergo's evil head-honcho Warren Vidic, in Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag.

Masashi Odate's Toshi

Before Ember Lab turned its attention to making video games, the studio was best known for a number of animated internet shorts. It's no surprise to see some voice talent crossover take place between these older projects and Kena: Bridge of Spirits. While Masashi Odate lends his voice to the game's mysterious Toshi, he previously also brought to life the Happy Mask Salesman in the studio's The Legend of Zelda inspired Majora’s Mask – A Terrible Fate fan film.

Beyond Ember Lab's portfolio, Odate has worked on a number of major Hollywood productions too, with the most famous of these arguably being his role as Omura's Companion in the Tom Cruise headlined The Last Samurai. Back in 2009 it should also be noted that he provided additional voiceover work for James Wong's infamous Dragonball: Evolution.

Alan Adelberg's Rusu

Alan Adelberg voices Kena's mentor figure, and manages to successfully strike a balance between making the role mysterious and insightful. Before being cast in the part, the Kentucky born actor was featured in a number of commercials for Kia, Lego, and Toyota. In the world of gaming though, players will likely have heard his voice in titles like Fire Emblem Heroes, Marvel Avengers Academy, and Final Fantasy Brave Exvius: War of the Visions where he takes up the role of Macleod.

Vlasta Vrana's Zajuro

During Kena's coming of age story the titular protagonist encounters Zajuro, the region's departed former elder. The helpful spectre is voiced by Vlasta Vrana, an actor who has an awe inspiring 266 acting credits to his name, dating back to 1973. When it comes to memorable video game appearances though, players will likely recognize him as the voice of Monroy in Outriders, The Outer Worlds' end slide narrator, or as Bayek's assassination target Eudoros in Assassin's Creed: Origins. Over the years Vrana has appeared frequently throughout the Deus Ex franchise too, and even provided additional voice over work for Ubisoft's original 2002 Splinter Cell.

Amber Goldfarb's Adira

More broadly she has also taken up a number of prominent video game roles, ranging from Jane in Square Enix's Outriders, to Q'orianka in the same publisher's Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Gita Miller's Hana

Hana is Adira's partner and a character who plays a pivotal role in aiding Kena during the quest to save her lover's restless spirit. This powerful section of the game is made all the more impactful by Gita Miller, who lends her voice to Hana. Before being cast in the role within Ember Lab's game, Miller previously appeared on a number of Canadian TV shows including Nurses, and Workin' Moms.
