One of the most anticipated titles on the horizon for many gamers is BioShock 4, which is currently in development at Cloud Chamber Studios. While it is likely going to be some time before gamers get even a small glimpse at the new game, rumors do have it that the title might be open-world and that the setting will not return fans to Rapture or Columbia. Original creator Ken Levine has now mentioned that he will not be involved with BioShock 4 at all and wishes Cloud Chamber Studios good luck.

Speaking with Arcade Attack, Ken Levine spoke on a variety of subjects including his new project, the BioShock movie that never left development hell, and of course whether he is involved with BioShock 4. To some BioShock fans' dismay Levine has confirmed he is not at all involved in the development of the next entry in the BioShock franchise. Levine says that while he wishes the developer the best, he doesn't want to do half measures with regards to the series and that he essentially knows as much about the game as anyone else does at the moment.

Elsewhere in the interview Levine talked about his new game which is in development at Ghost Story Games. He says that gamers will be "suprised, but unsurprised by what they see." Levine says his new title is quite interesting and looks forward to showing it to the world. However, don't expect to see the game until closer to its launch as Levine says the team didn't want to unveil it too early and have a period of build-up, hype, and then delaying it and causing disappointment. Levine's game has been in the works at 2K and Ghost Story Games since 2014, and earlier this month 15 former and current developers went on record saying that the project has undergone reboots and changes for many years.

At this point it is hard to guess exactly what type of game is being worked on at Levine's studio. His comment about fans being unsurprised by his next title could mean the game is more in line with a BioShock game or is at least a spiritual successor to the franchise. However, it is hard to see 2K wanting to put out two similar games, especially since BioShock is such a unique franchise and carries a solid amount of prestige with it.

As for the confirmed BioShock 4, rumors put the title as BioShock: Isolation, meaning the game could be leaning more into its horror roots first glimpsed in the original game. It has also been rumored that the title's setting could be heading to space. However, those leaks remain unconfirmed at the time of this writing.

BioShock 4 is currently in development for new-gen consoles.
