Daniel "KEEMSTAR" Keem has been posting videos on YouTube for nearly 14 years but now claims he no longer finds any enjoyment from doing so. KEEMSTAR has been involved in many controversies over the years, none of which dissuaded him from posting videos on YouTube in the past. This is why his most recent announcement has shocked many of his fans.

KEEMSTAR posted to his Twitter account stating that he would be retiring and viewers would be able to find out more information later that day on his YouTube channel. The video on the DramaAlert channel, titled "Retired" goes into detail as to why KEEMSTAR no longer finds making videos fun anymore. He attributed this to the shift in the social media culture that has become focused on "canceling" people that are not in public favor. KEEMSTAR himself fell victim to cancel culture at the hands of the YouTube creator H3H3 Productions back in 2020. H3H3 made a video detailing all of Keem's past controversies and queried why he was still supported by sponsors which subsequently caused his sponsors to drop him.

KEEMSTAR states that this fear of being canceled has caused people to stop speaking their minds which is why it makes it difficult for a channel like DramaAlert to exist in the current YouTube climate. Keem himself does not seem to fear being canceled much considering his channel's main focus is speaking about drama and controversial topics within the social media community. KEEMSTAR's last video posted before his retirement announcement even speaks about YouTube creator Valkyrae, who has come under fire for attempting to sell skincare products that would allegedly protect people from the blue light exuded from screens.

Keem claims that that the entertainment industry needs drama to keep the community interesting as people who fear being canceled will be too scared to speak their minds. He goes on to say that the fun is removed from drama when creators weaponize their fans and create angry mobs to take on people with whom they do not agree. YouTube itself even fears cancel culture and hate mobs as it decided to cancel its annual YouTube Rewind event for good after receiving massive amounts of criticism for it in the past.

KEEMSTAR does seem to have somewhat of a point with regards to the social media climate changing. This change certainly makes it difficult for a channel like DramaAlert to exist which explains why Keem would like to quit while he's ahead. He ended the video by saying that, "Everything has a start and everything has an end and for me being the daily 24/7 host on DramaAlert that end has come."
