Keanu Reeves has expressed interest in returning to comic book movies as the DC character John Constantine. As fans of Reeves know, the actor has played many popular characters in iconic films such as The Matrix and John Wick, but now it looks like he has an interest in bringing his former DC role back.

For those who don't know, John Constantine is a character from the DC side of the comic world. He's interacted with many of DC's supernatural characters, but he is also known for working with heavy hitters like Batman. John Constantine was also brought into The CW's live-action television series universe (which is often dubbed 'Arrowverse') with Matt Ryan in the role, after the character's short-lived series was canceled by NBC.

However, Reeves actually played this character in the 2005 movie Constantine. During an interview with Esquire, the popular actor responded to the question of whether he could see his superhero role of John Constantine return in a future DC project. "I love playing Constantine... John Constantine. I've played a lot of Johns. How many Johns have I played? I don't even know. I think it's over ten," Reeves said. "But anyway, I'd love to have the chance to play Constantine again." Of course, HBO Max is rebooting Constantine, which means a new actor will likely be sought for the role.

Keanu Reeves has some very high-profile roles in his career and it looks like the one that he's currently missing is a superhero/villain part. Fans have been asking for him to be in a Marvel or DC project for a while now. At one point, Reeves was a fan-favorite choice to play Moon Knight, a Marvel superhero who has been compared to Batman. Of course, the role of Moon Knight went to Oscar Isaac for a Disney Plus original series.

At this point, anything is possible with DC's movie slate moving forward. They brought back Michael Keaton as Batman, for example, so its possible for there to be two versions of Constantine on film or television. They also brought back Lynda Carter for Wonder Woman 1984, which was a good way for the new DC film to honor the past.

Regardless, it would be very cool to see the actor in a superhero role at some point in the future. Reeves is a very well-liked individual who many people respect and have a great deal of admiration for due to his reported acts of kindness. So, many popular culture fans would love nothing more to see him in a high-profile superhero role.

Constantine (2005) is available to stream on HBO Max.
