It had been several decades since Ke Huy Quan had regularly acted when he took on Everything Everywhere All at Once. To get all the legal formalities out of the way, Quan turned to a fellow The Goonies co-star, who helped him out.

Everything Everywhere All at Once represented a revitalization in Quan's career. He was once well-known for his roles in The Goonies and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (Steven Spielberg still sends Quan a yearly Christmas present to this day), but he eventually left acting to pursue higher education. There were about 20 years when Quan was no longer acting, but he has now returned to that world.

In a roundtable discussion with The Hollywood Reporter, Quan stated that fellow The Goonies star Jeff Cohen (who played Chunk in the film) helped him negotiate his deal for the movie. Cohen had also left acting behind following a childhood career in it and now works as a lawyer, whom Quan calls "outstanding." "Jeff Cohen, who was in The Goonies with me — he was Chunk — is all grown now and he’s an entertainment lawyer," Quan said while the roundtable group laughed. "When the producer of our movie was trying to make my deal, he said he never imagined that he’d have to talk to Chunk and Data for his movie."

Quan's star has continued to reignite after Everything Everywhere All at Once. It was recently reported that he joined the Russo Brothers' Electric State on Netflix. He'll join Giancarlo Esposito, who will be playing a villain, while Quan will play an ally to the main heroine.

Quan will also join the ranks of the MCU when he joins Loki season 2. His role in Loki season 2 was not announced, but it was revealed that he plays an employee for the TVA. The TVA, or Time Variance Authority, is the bureaucratic organization tasked with controlling the sacred timeline, but after the first season finale, they might be policing the multiverse.

Fans of The Goonies will likely be pleased to hear of this mini-reunion. While it's not known if all of the cast keeps in touch, it's nice to know that Quan and Cohen have a cordial relationship. After all, the Goonies never say die.

Everything Everywhere All at Once is available on Amazon Prime Video.
