Mike Flanagan is at it again with his upcoming Netflix horror series, The Fall of the House of Usher. Flanagan's wife, Kate Siegel, a member of the cast, has shared a behind-the-scenes photo of the new show.

Flanagan has become known for his ingenious horror series on Netflix that were inspired by literature. In 2018, Flanagan's The Haunting of Hill House premiered, inspired by the Shirley Jackson novel of the same name. In 2020 came The Haunting of Bly Manor, loosely adapted from Henry James' The Turn of the Screw. Flanagan recently debuted his original project, Midnight Mass, on Netflix in 2021.

The Fall of the House of Usher has begun filming and Siegel tweeted a photo of her on the set. Clad in a black mask in light of the COVID pandemic, Siegel points to a name card for co-star Rahul Kohli. The Fall of the House of Usher will not be Kohli and Siegel's first collaboration, as they have both worked on Flanagan's previous Netflix series, The Haunting of Bly Manor and Midnight Mass. Kohli appeared in Bly Manor as the lovable Owen, who was the chef at Bly. Siegel appeared in the series in a limited role as Viola, who was revealed as the Lady of the Lake. Both had leading roles in Midnight Mass, as Kohli played Sheriff Hassan and Siegel played Erin Greene.

Siegel and Kohli will be joined in The Fall of the House of Usher by plenty of familiar faces to Flanagan's work, as well as a few new ones. Henry Thomas, Samantha Sloyan, T'Nia Miller, Carla Gugino, Zach Gilford, Annabeth Gish, Robert Longstreet, and Crystal Balint have all appeared in Flanagan's Netflix creations and will appear in the latest series inspired by the works of Edgar Allan Poe. The series will also star Mark Hamill, Mary McDonnell, Frank Langella, Katie Parker, Malcolm Goodwin, and Carl Lumbly, who recently appeared in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Like many of Flanagan's previous projects, The Fall of the House of Usher will draw on the literary works of some of the most famous authors. Despite being named after Poe's Fall of the House of Usher, Flanagan has revealed that the series will draw on more than one piece of Poe's literature. With such an expansive list of grizzly tales to pick from, it's hard to narrow down which ones Flanagan will choose to use.

While details for The Fall of the House of Usher remain somewhat scarce, the immense cast for the eight-episode series will surely be just as memorable as all of Flanagan's other horror projects. The amount of both new and frequent stars in Flanagan's work suggests that it's impossible to doubt that The Fall of the House of Usher will be anything short of terrific.

The Fall of the House of Usher will be released on Netflix.
