Scottish actress Karen Gillan (Doctor Who, Guardians of the Galaxy) has shared her new short horror film via her twitter account. Gillan tweeted "Here is a link to a short horror film I wrote and directed called The Hoarding! I also show up for a brief little stint in the film. Turn the lights off and enjoy..."

The Hoarding sees Gillan playing Hope, a cleaner joined by American Horror Story's Jamie Brewer on her first job clearing out a house that once belonged to a hoarder. There are dolls. Lots of dolls. Never a good sign.

The film itself is a beautifully shot slice of gothic horror set almost entirely within a grimy creepy house complemented by Matt Glass's brooding score. Gillan is no stranger to horror having starred in The Haunting of Bly Manor creator Mike Flanagan's hypnotic Oculus shortly before writing, directing and acting in comic horror short Conventional where she plays a one time scream queen whose star has long since faded.

Since then, Gillan has made her feature debut with the dark comedy The Party's Just Beginning in which she plays a young self destructive woman learning unable to cope after her friend's suicide.

The future for Karen Gillan looks bright as she's set to join Lena Headey (Game of Thrones) and Angela Basset (Black Panther) as a female assassin in upcoming action thriller Gunpowder Milkshake and will reprise her role as Nebula in the long awaited Guardians of the Galaxy 3.
