Following the poorly-received Justice League movie, fans have been clamoring for the release of the so-called Snyder Cut version of the film. HBO Max is answering the call and releasing the Justice League Snyder Cut at some point in 2021. And as it turns out, the Justice League Snyder Cut will include characters who weren't featured in the theatrically-released Justice League movie.

This includes DC villain Darkseid, who is arguably one of the most formidable villains in all of DC Comics. Darkseid, portrayed by Ray Porter, was unveiled by Snyder on Twitter in a new image that appears to be showing the supervillain on his home planet of Apokolips, surrounded by massive war machines.

When Warner Bros. was still attempting to compete with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it seemed clear that Darkseid was being set up to be the ultimate villain in the DCEU. It's unclear if that plot thread will still be pursued or not, but it means that fans shouldn't expect to see a ton of Darkseid in Justice League. It's possible that the character was being saved for an after-credits tease, or maybe he was even going to appear in a scene or two, but it doesn't seem like he had all that significant of a role to play in the film.

Regardless, DC Comics fans are still excited to see Darkseid make his film debut in the Justice League Snyder Cut. Whether or not any of the loose Justice League plot threads are actually followed up on will likely depend on how the Snyder Cut is received, so fans should tune in to HBO Max in 2021 to see if it lives up to the hype.

Justice League's Snyder Cut will launch in 2021 on HBO Max.
