Zack Snyder, the director of Man of Steel and Batman v Superman, is being given the opportunity to create and release his "Snyder Cut" of Justice League. The Snyder Cut will be a major change to the theatrical version of the film, introducing an array of cut content. Part of that content is the character Darkseid, whose actor is now speaking out.

Ray Porter is the voice being Darkseid. He originally starred in the role when Zack Snyder first filmed it years ago. His role in the film, however, was cut and Darkseid was only hinted at. In the Snyder Cut of Justice League, Darkseid will be back. Porter may even get to voice some new lines of the character.

For the past several years, Porter has been gagged regarding his role as Darkseid. But in a Twitter post recently, Porter said that he'd been granted permission to confirm his role. "Hi, I'm Ray. I play Darkseid in Zack Snyder's Justice League," was all he had to say. It was a surprising admission, as it's something he's teased previously, but it was further evidence of just how real the Snyder Cut has become.

The big question in the minds of DC film buffs is whether this means the Snyder Cut will directly tie into the upcoming New Gods film. Darkseid is an important character in the New Gods comic lore, after all. New Gods was likely moving forward well before the Snyder cut was ever announced, so how the film connects is a big question mark.

The Justice League Snyder Cut releases on HBO Max in 2021.
