The first Just Dance title released back in 2009 on several platforms, and Ubisoft just confirmed that one of the long-running consoles to get titles from this series will not be getting the latest installment. Just Dance is a Ubisoft E3 press conference staple, and 2021's showcase was no exception.

Just Dance 2022 was officially shown off during the Ubisoft Forward event during E3 2021 weekend and it will be coming to various platforms. Not listed among the platforms Just Dance 2022 will be releasing for is the Nintendo Wii, which has received nearly every title in the series until this one.

Despite the Nintendo Wii population dwindling since the release of several successors, the Just Dance community on the platform remained strong enough for Ubisoft to support it several years after many other developers gave up on the Nintendo console. With a heavy emphasis on motion controls, the Wii was a great fit for the Just Dance series since the original released in 2009.

While the Wii still has a healthy community of Just Dance fans, the Nintendo Switch has impressive motion controls which are even better than Nintendo's 2006 console. With so many Just Dance titles on the Wii, it remains one of the definitive consoles for fans of the series to pick up. This breaking of franchise tradition will leave the Wii with an impressive 11 Just Dance titles as part of its catalog.

Just Dance fans on the Wii who are looking for something new may want to consider adopting one of the other consoles it will be releasing for. Nintendo and Ubisoft maintain a healthy relationship and continue to work together on projects such as Mario + Rabbids Spark of Hope, so it's unlikely that this comes down to anything more than the age of the Wii. It may feel like the end of an era for some fans of the dancing series, but the latest title is still coming to Nintendo Switch.

While some Wii fans may miss Just Dance already, fans of Todrick Hall are celebrating his special guest focus on him in the game. The Ubisoft Forward presentation placed a strong emphasis on Hall and his performances will be displayed in-game. Just Dance 2022 promises 40 new songs including "Believer" by Imagine Dragons and "Level Up" by Ciara. Among the other titles Ubisoft showed off during its E3 2021 press conference are Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Far Cry 6, Riders Republic, and Rainbow Six Siege.

Just Dance 2022 releases on November 4 for PS4, PS5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
