Avalanche Studios, the company responsible for developing the Just Cause series, and more recently, the Mad Max open world RPG, now appears to have another open world title in development.

Although the Just Cause developer has yet to announce any major upcoming games, a new job listing has recently appeared on Avalanche Studios' website, inviting young adults aged 18-25 to apply to become one of the faces used in their next upcoming game. The listing reads:

"At Avalanche Studios, we’re hard at work developing our next, as of yet unannounced, self-published title. We can’t say much about the game itself (or we’d have to kill you), but it will be created in true Avalanche Studios fashion and offer players tons of our trademark emergent, open-world action. In the game you will play as a young adult, whom we will bring to life using cutting-edge face scanning technology."

Avalanche Studios has New Open-World Game in Development

While anybody between the ages of 18-25 can apply, the job listing does state that travel will not be provided/covered, and that candidates are ideally located in or around the city of Stockholm, Sweden, where Avalanche Studios is based.

At this point, it's difficult to tell exactly what this upcoming project could be. The last entry in Just Cause 3's post-launch DLC calendar, The Bavarium Sea Heist, was released some two years ago, so another Just Cause game is certainly a possibility. Of course, it could also be a sequel to Mad Max or an entirely new project.

When Mad Max released around three years ago, the game received mostly mixed reviews, but nevertheless sold well in both the UK and US. Accurate sales figures for video games are hard to come by, but Steam records slightly over 1.5 million owners of the game on PC alone. If those figures were reflected across the consoles, Avalanche Studios might well consider a sequel.

Whatever the case, it is possible that Avalanche Studios may make an announcement at E3 in June, but if it is still in the process of finding faces for in-game characters, it may yet be some time before anything concrete is forthcoming.
