Avalanche Studios reveals that Just Cause 3's Sky Fortress Expansion Pack is nearing completion, with the developer currently play testing the content.

The Just Cause franchise returned with a bang when Just Cause 3 was released in December. Although the title already offered up a fun world to explore and cause chaos in, many were wondering where developer Avalanche Studios could take the title through the use of further content. It turns out that Just Cause 3 players may not have long to wait, as the studio has confirmed that the Sky Fortress Expansion is nearly ready.

The news was revealed via an update on the game’s Steam page, offering up a very happy New Year to fans of the series hunting for more content. Avalanche Studios explained that the Sky Fortress pack is "nearing completion," and the developer also hinted at some of the content that would be received in the expansion. According to Avalanche, the Sky Fortress DLC will "bring new missions, features and other exciting surprises to the skies of Medici."

It certainly seems as though Avalanche Studios has been busy with the Sky Fortress pack. The developer stated that it is "play testing this content right now," suggesting that a release could be coming soon. The Sky Fortress DLC makes up the ‘Air’ section of the Air, Land, and Sea Expansion Pass, which came with the XL Edition of the game.

As well as the Sky Fortress DLC update, Avalanche also announced some other additional content to assist players in the game's massive open world. The content in question, however, is not exactly new, instead being made up of items that were previously available in the pre-order programmes that early adopters picked up as bonuses. Avalanche has now made those items available for all players, regardless of whether they pre-ordered the game.

Although some fans are bound to be excited about the additional DLC update, others may feel a little aggrieved. When Just Cause 3 launched, it was hit with a number of problems, including terrible load times. Although Avalanche has said that it has "one side of the studio" working on patches to fix issues, some may feel that a larger portion of the team should have focused their efforts on solving the problems that gamers were facing with the title.

Avalanche was able to give an update on the process of the fixes, however. The studio stated that it is currently working on "optimisations, bug fixes, performances enhancements and improvements," with a patch expected nearer to the end of the month. Let’s hope that it can help make the game more playable for fans, building upon its positive reviews.

Just Cause 3 is out now for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
