Square Enix reveals the first details behind the second Just Cause 3 expansion pack, Mech Land Assault, including when players can expect to get their hands on it.

After a rougher than expected launch last December, the explosive open-world action game Just Cause 3 has recieved numerous quality of life updates and an exciting first expansion pack which brought even more ways for players to mess with the world – including a jet powered wing suit. Players looking for even more ways to mess with the physics system won't have to wait too much longer according to Square Enix and Avalanche Studios, as even more content is getting ready to hit the game.

The second expansion, Mech Land Assault, adds to the already sizable world by introducing Rico to Lacrima. This island is home to an abandoned research base and a prison camp run by a mysterious group known as the Black Hand. To help Rico deal with the mechs that guard the area, he'll gain access to a powerful new Bavarium Power Core energy rifle, which disables shields allowing him to hijack them for his own purposes. These mechs come with powerful cannons and gravity guns to cause even more physics based chaos.

If that wasn't enough, Square Enix and Avalanche are promising the ability for players to "jump and smash helicopters from the sky, or ground pound tanks with the GRIP's Force Pulse attack." With the new mechs, Rico will be able to throw vehicles or enemies around, essentially giving players more ways to creatively destroy their surroundings.

Mech Land Assault is set to hit season pass holders later this week on June 3. General release for non-season pass holders will be on June 10 and will set players back $11.99.

Earlier this year Avalanche released the first expansion to Just Cause 3 with Sky Fortress. The expansion gave Rico access to new weapons, like an assault rifle, and new tools such as the Bavarium Wing Suit. While most of the action took place in the sky against an invading high tech paramilitary group and their air ships, thankfully, all of the DLC gear could be taken back and used in the main game.

The Mech Land Assault DLC joins Sky Fortress as the land and sky part of the $24.99 expansion pass. The final expansion, which has also been revealed as the Bavarium Sea Heist, is planned for sometime later this summer and is set to focus its gameplay around the ocean. No further details have been given.

Are you looking forward to punching helicopters out of the sky? What other sorts of chaos do you plan on unleashing once this expansion drops? Let us know in the comments.
