The sprawling Jurassic World Evolution 2 is available now, and players have been getting a handle on how to tame their new dinosaurs. Tons of new features have been added that flesh out the features available, and favorite animals have been brought back as well.RELATED Jurassic World Evolution 2 ReviewThe sequel to Jurassic World Evolution has introduced two new types of dinosaurs: aquatic and avian. The game also offers other features that build upon and improve those from the first game, including new stores, new dinosaurs, new tools to use, and more. These features can also make the game harder to get into for beginners. Luckily, this list of tips should prove useful for anyone just starting their dino park management career.Updated February 24th, 2022 by Russ Boswell: Fans of Jurassic World Evolution seem to be enjoying the sequel quite a bit thanks to some needed updates and a slew of gameplay upgrades. Although it's changed a bit, the core elements are still there, thankfully, in what made the original release such a polarizing title. Those that are new to the Jurassic World Evolution franchise are likely scratching their heads a bit on what to do and where to go first, as some of the necessary day-to-day operations can be difficult to keep track of. In order to help new (and returning) players with their parks, the following list has been updated and now includes even more Jurassic World Evolution 2 tips.

13 Focus On Electricity First

Jurassic-World-Evolution-2

While the game might not make it known, electricity is one of the most important things when first starting a new park. Players will be given a backup generator that provides a small amount of energy to a particular area. While these generators seem like a suitable power source at the start, players will soon find out how brutally expensive they can be to maintain. Players that use them as a primary power station will need to keep refueling them, which costs a hefty sum of money (upwards of $500,000 each time they need to be filled).

Players should, instead, immediately begin researching how to build power stations. They'll be much more cost-effective and cover a much wider area than backup generators.

12 Know The Different Game Modes

Ichthyosaurus Jurassic World Evolution 2

Within Jurassic World Evolution, players now have different options for how to play the game: Campaign Mode, Challenge Mode, Sandbox Mode, and a new "Chaos Theory" Mode.

The campaign mode takes players through a story of fixing up different, pre-existing parks, while the sandbox allows free building of any park they wish. Challenge mode, as the name suggests, is harder and can provide a new experience for seasoned players. The new Chaos Theory mode, meanwhile, introduces new scenarios that are based on scenes from the films, with a "what if?" twist. Knowing the differences will allow the player to choose what type of game they most want to play.

11 Park Ratings

Unlike most other building and management games, including Jurassic World Evolution 1, the rating of the park is now only based on one thing: money. This game relies on the income of the park to create a rating; nothing else is taken into account this time around.

To get a four or five-star rating, players will need to have a big and interesting park to bring in tons of customers, and plenty of cash. The more money the player can earn, the higher the rating.

10 Assign Tasks To Staff

One mistake that players often make is trying to take on all responsibilities themselves. Everyone's been there, but it doesn't have to be that way. Micromanaging is not ideal when it comes to such a big game as Jurassic World Evolution.

Like other theme park simulators, there are staff types available to assist the player. Scientists will do the research, and rangers will wrangle wily dinosaurs when the player isn't looking. What's more, ranger stations can even be placed inside dino habitats to make sure they get constant check-ins.

9 Paths Stop Overcrowding

Overcrowding is becoming a real problem...in theme park management games. The likes of Planet Zoo have functions to add huge paths to accommodate the growing customer base, and Frontier's new game is no different.

Guest comfort plays a part here, and that means enough space to walk. It is recommended to sort out the research of the Structures as soon as possible, to get the wide path building option. This will mean less negative feedback from patrons, and will increase satisfaction scores.

8 Understand Different Guest Types

As in real life, Jurassic World theme parks can attract many different kinds of guests — in this case, four kinds. There are normal, non-specialty guests, along with Adventure, Luxury, and Nature-specific guests. The different types of people are brought in according what is placed in the park, from buildings to shops to attractions.

The available shops have had a slight change: they now keep different types of guests happy due to their product types. Some food stalls cater to a luxury audience, for example, so make sure to check on this when building the park.

7 Build An Emergency Shelter

This one is pretty obvious. Please, for the safety of staff and guests, build at least one emergency shelter. This is especially vital if the park is going to be filled with the big, blood-thirsty beasties.

No matter how carefully run a park is, things can go wrong. Say one little Velociraptor gets out after a storm — then what? Humans are going to need somewhere to go, and the emergency shelter is the place for safety. Make sure to place it in a central location, so that everyone can reach it.

6 Think About Park Layout

One of the most important things that many players overlook is what they want their park to look like. It's easy to get overwhelmed by the excitement of building a ton of dinosaur enclosures and shops but those that don't plan ahead could end up hurting themselves in the long run.

Having too many shops far away from enclosures (or the opposite) can cause guests to become frustrated. Keeping guests happy is one of the most important aspects of owning and operating a park in Jurassic World Evolution 2, so players should always be thinking about what they want their park to look like before simply jumping in and creating as many things as possible.

5 Choose Scientists Wisely

Scientists are a very important part of Jurassic World Evolution. Without them, nothing new would get researched, dinosaurs would not be created, and parks would be very boring.

There are various ways of hiring scientists, and they all come with handy traits. Logistic, genetic, and welfare are the three skill classes that scientists can possess. It is recommended to hire a range of scientists that can focus on different skills, rather than have every scientist with average abilities across the board.

4 Don't Forget Power Stations

Amargasaurus Jurassic World Evolution 2

Power is not granted by the universe in this game; rather, it must be paid for and created. To begin with, players get a backup generator, which is unfortunately not as good as it sounds. They are very expensive, and are not recommended to actually run facilities. However, do keep one in case of emergencies.

The backup generator should first be used to power the science facilities so that scientists can research improved power technology: the power stations. Build these as soon as possible as they are much more efficient, and don't cost horrendous amounts ($300,000) to fill up.

3 The Map is Key

Cryolophosaurus Jurassic World Evolution 2

This might sound really obvious, but don't ignore the map. Use it. Along with showing the layout of the park, and where each facility is (which is admittedly handier in the campaign mode than a sandbox) it can show a lot of helpful information.

If a dinosaur escapes, it comes up on the map. Broken fences, equipment, or facilities also show up, so the correct teams can be dispatched as soon as physically able to rectify any issues. Used in combination with the Management tools, the map can even show where the customers are and how they're doing.

2 Focus On Catering To Customers At Shops

The visitor center in Jurassic World Evolution 2

Building a shop or another form of amenity can be a great way to bring in some extra profits, but players will have to do more than simply plopping a building down and keeping their fingers crossed that it produces.

Once a building is placed, players can then access a special configuration panel inside it that will give them access to a variety of customization options. Players can pick what types of items the store sells, as well as add an array of different decorations and accommodations that will cater to particular customer types. Finding out what certain customers like and giving them access to specific things can really boost a shop's profits.

1 Keep Dinosaurs Happy

Mosasaurus Jurassic World Evolution 2

If there is one golden rule for playing Jurassic World Evolution 2, it is this: Keep. All. Dinosaurs. Happy. If their specific requirements are not attended to, there will be blood.

Dinosaurs need to be kept properly fed, watered, and housed in order to keep them from trying to escape and demolishing whatever stands in their path. The correct fencing, neighbors, food, enrichment, and environment are just a few factors that affect how the dinos feel. Adhere to their proper wants and needs, and they will be just fine.

Jurassic World Evolution 2 is available now on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.
