Everything is better with cats, at least unless the person involved is allergic. In that case, things become far less adorable and far more like a much more small-scale version of every cliched horror movie. Maybe that's what a certain clever video creator had in mind when adding their fuzzy friend into what was once a particularly tense scene from Jurassic Park.

The T-rex scene from the first Jurassic Park continues to be iconic for a number of reasons. People still praise its visuals due to the talented VFX artists possessing a keen understanding of how important lighting is. But even aside from that, director Steven Spielberg and his crew shot the whole sequence in such a way that its suspenseful terror still resonates to this day. So when somebody else decided to swap in a giant fluffy kitty for the vicious reptile (with surprisingly believable effects), the juxtaposition alone provides for one heck of a satisfying whiplash.

YouTuber OwlKitty (or rather, the YouTuber who owns the cat known as OwlKitty) did just that, and the results work almost as well in a technical sense as they do comedy-wise. The cat herself is absolutely adorable the whole way through, which turns the previously terrifying scene into a hilarious game of cat and Jeep. It's a short video, but a lot of quality visual comedy is packed in there, at least enough to give a triceratops breathing problems. It's as hilarious as Austin Powers meeting Mass Effect, but for decidedly different reasons.

The most genius change might actually be in the sound effects. Where the T-rex would roar and growl in response to slamming doors and tossed flares, OwlKitty punctuates her attentive looks with that trilly "brrrb" sound that virtually every cat owner knows far too well. But aside from that, the video's creator also added their own inspired choices like switching out the flare for a can of cat food and even showing one of the kids (with surprisingly effective editing) opening one of the cans just before the giant feline begins her full attack on the vehicle.

Unlike other hilarious videos like a low-tech recreation of Bilbo's scary scene from Lord of the Rings, OwlKitty's offerings tend to be of near-professional quality. In past entries on her YouTube channel, she's appeared in films like Star Wars, Harry Potter, and even Titanic, giving new meaning to the idea of cats having 9 lives. OwlKitty clearly has well more than 9, and she lives them all with gusto.

Luckily, the channel also provides behind-the-scenes videos showing how the fantastic effects are pulled off. So anyone interested can enjoy plenty of scenes like this one before cleansing their palates with some shots of a super cute cat goofing around in front of a green screen. Truly, this is the very essence of what the internet was made for.

Jurassic Park is now available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
