At the Taipei Games Show, Jump Force received a new trailer focusing on the crossover fighting game's story elements. Considering it is not far from launch, such a showcase is to be expected, with this reveal following shortly after the addition of four more Naruto characters to the roster. What stands out about this trailer isn't just the glimpses at the story or the characters, however, but the focus on the Umbras Cubes.

Likely vital to the central plot, the Umbras Cubes are what bring the player character (PC) to life as a customizable hero to fight alongside the newly dubbed Jump Force. Oddly enough, the trailer suggests that the PC's use of the Umbras Cube is somewhat different from the antagonists, as the PC seemingly increases in power as a result. It seems to be a point of contention with the central antagonists known as Venoms.

These Venoms have been providing anime antagonists from the Jump universe with these cubes and are likely somewhat responsible for the two worlds merging. It does seem that Jump Force's central story will revolve around stopping reality and the Jump universe from fully merging, which may be tied in with the Umbras Cubes.

While this story trailer gives a glimpse at some of the playable characters and antagonists in Jump Force, it also focuses on some characters that aren't playable such as Light Yagami and Ryuk from Death Note. While this may be disappointing to the myriad fans of the popular anime series, it has been revealed that they are meant "to kind of weave the story together," meaning their presence will still likely be felt.

Luckily, Jump Force hopefuls do not have much longer before the game officially releases to see the influence of the aforementioned characters or the Umbras Cubes. Because of its intriguing story and ever-growing roster, it's easy to see why this is one of the most highly anticipated games of 2019. Whether it lives up to the hype post-launch remains to be seen, but there's no denying that it's an ambitious project.

Jump Force launches on February 15, 2019, for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
