Without a doubt, anime fans are excited at the potential for Jump Force's franchise crossovers, as Bandai Namco Entertainment's debut trailer for the forthcoming title featured characters from the likes of Naruto, One Piece, Dragon Ball Z, and even Death Note. Speaking of the lattermost property, game producer Koji Nakajima recently revealed that Light Yagami and Ryuk from Death Note are only there to set up the story, and not to fight.

This much was divulged during a recent interview held between Nakajima and GameSpot, with the Jump Force producer speaking through translation, saying, "This game is going to feature a story around this unique situation, and that's where Death Note comes into play. To kind of weave the story together. So, Death Note is not [going to have] a fighting game character." Unfortunately, the game producer didn't offer any more details as to what the title's plot will contain.

As of yet, there has been no official mention from Bandai Namco Entertainment nor Spike Chunsoft as to how big Jump Force's roster is going to be, but it's safe to say that its exclusion of Light Yagami and Ryuk as playable characters will disappoint many Death Note fans. Instead, the likes of Naruto, Goku from Dragon Ball Z, and Luffy from One Piece will almost certainly be there as foundational figures and locks as roster members.

In addition to the three Naruto, DBZ, and One Piece characters, it has been confirmed that Sasuke Uchiha from Naruto and One Piece's Roronoa Zoro will be playable fighters in Jump Force as well. So, taking all of this into consideration, even though there's no current launch date set yet, we will surely see even more character reveals to come for Bandai Namco Entertainment and Spike Chunsoft's forthcoming crossover fighting game.

Jump Force is currently scheduled to release for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2019.
