The original 1995 Jumanji film starring Robin Williams is a popular family film that continues to have a strong fan following today. The film inspired an animated Jumanji series, several video games, and eventually a direct sequel with the 2017 film Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, starring Dwayne '"The Rock" Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black.

When the 2017 film's sequel Jumanji: The Next Level was released in 2019, a video game based on both films was developed called Jumanji: The Video Game. The video game was developed by Funsolve and published by Outright Games and was released back in 2019. The game was a third-person shooter with four-player co-op that allowed players to control the new characters from the 2017 and 2019 films. Recently, it was revealed that the movie tie-in game is getting a PS5 re-release this year.

Jumanji: The Video Game originally released for the PS4, PC, and the Xbox One, and soon PS5 players will be able to enjoy the enhanced edition of the game. This time around, the game will re-release as a PS5 exclusive on October 22nd. For the re-release on the PS5, Jumanji: The Video Game will have some new changes, including faster loading times, 4k dynamic resolution, HDR, and frame rates of 120 frames-per-second.

At the time of writing, there has been no confirmation if there will be any changes to the core game mechanics. For now, fans of the original Jumanji: The Video Game will be able to enjoy the same controls and gameplay as before on the PS5. Also, there hasn't been any confirmation if the original game will be receiving a free PS4 to PS5 upgrade when the PS5 version of Jumanji: The Video Game releases. Until more details are revealed, the enhanced edition of the game will be separate from the original.

For players unfamiliar with the game, Jumanji: The Video Game lets players jump into a new adventure as Dwayne Johnson's Dr. Xander "Smolder" Bravestone, Kevin Hart's Franklin "Mouse" Finbar, Karen Gillan's Ruby Roundhouse, and Jack Black's Professor Sheldon "Shelly" Oberon. Each of the different heroes comes with their own set of special skills in the game. Players can face the dangers of Jumanji on their own or team up with their friends in four-player split-screen and online co-op to enjoy the game. Together or by themselves, players can brave through dangerous traps, fierce enemies, and find collectibles in the world of Jumanji.

Jumanji: The Video Game is available on the PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and will be available on the PS5 this October 22.
