Despite being the main character of Jujutsu Kaisen, there are lots of things that we don’t know about Yuji Itadori. After all, he’s been constantly dragged into countless dangerous situations since the beginning of the series. So it’s only natural that the story hasn’t really found the time yet to properly dive into Yuji’s past.

One of the most mysterious things about him is his parents. Thankfully, chapter 208 (the latest chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen when this article is written) of the manga presents a major revelation about Yuji Itadori’s parents, particularly his mother, and their relationship to the most evil Jujutsu Sorcerer in History.

Kenjaku, The Most Evil Jujutsu Sorcerer In History

Jujutsu Kaisen Geto Kamo

Kenjaku is the name of an ancient Jujutsu Sorcerer, who devoted his life to learn everything there is to know about Cursed Energy and Cursed Spirits. Furthermore, he would never hesitate to do everything and sacrifice anyone if it means he can get one step closer to his goal, which is to bring about the next evolution of humankind through the power of Cursed Energy.

Needless to say, this is a major research topic that requires a long time to complete. Fortunately for Kenjaku, his ability allowed him to transplant his brain into another person’s body, and therefore extend his lifetime to however long he wants. He keeps the appearance of the original body, and as a bonus, he can also use the abilities of the original body. That is why throughout the years, he is able to collect lots of unique abilities that further enhance his powers. By the way, the only way to know if Kenjaku has taken over a body is the visible stitch marks along the forehead.

One of his most notorious incarnations was as the head of the Kamo Family, Noritoshi Kamo, roughly 150 years before the current story. Kenjaku performed countless terrible deeds and killed so many humans and Jujutsu Sorcerers as Noritoshi Kamo. He even went as far as experimenting on an innocent woman who happens to have a unique genetic composition, and force her to endure nine pregnancies, and nine abortions. The result of that experiment is the Special Grade Cursed Object Cursed Womb: Death Painting. His time as Noritoshi Kamo earned Kenjaku the title of the Most Evil Jujutsu Sorcerer in History.

After that, Kenjaku sort of disappeared from the historical record. However, after years of inactivity, Kenjaku finally makes his appearance in the modern world as the special grade sorcerer, Suguru Geto, which means he can also now use Geto’s ability, Cursed Spirit Manipulation.

The Truth About Yuji Itadori’s Mother

Jujutsu Kaisen Yuji Itadori Parents

Yuji Itadori’s parents are rarely mentioned in the story. We know that he grew up with his grandfather, but there’s hardly any information about his parents. However, there is one particular chapter where we get to see Yuji’s parents, which is chapter 143. In that chapter, we see Yuji as a baby being held by his father, Jin Itadori. Another person in that scene is Yuji’s grandfather, Wasuke Itadori.

From that scene, it is insinuated that Yuji’s mother, Kaori Itadori, was dead before she had Yuji. However, just moments later, a woman with stitch marks along her forehead appeared. She called Wasuke “Father-in-law”. Chapter 208 later confirmed that that woman is indeed Kaori Itadori, Yuji’s mother that was supposed to be dead by that point. Not only that, Kenjaku, who now possesses the body of Suguru Geto, also showcases one of his unique abilities, gravity manipulation, which he later admits that it's actually the reversal of Kaori Itadori’s cursed technique, Anti-Gravity System.

All of these facts point to a single, devastating fact. Yuji Itadori is actually the son of Kenjaku. It’s still unclear why Kenjaku decided to possess Kaori’s body in the first place, but one thing for sure, Kenjaku gave birth to Yuji while he possesses Kaori’s body. That means the current vessel of the Demon Overlord Sukuna is actually the son of the most evil Jujutsu Sorcerer in history. We don’t know whether Kenjaku already knew at the time that Yuji will become Sukuna’s vessel in the future, or whether the whole thing is simply a big coincidence. Hopefully we’ll get more information about this in the subsequent chapters.

Confirmation By Choso

Jujutsu Kaisen Choso Yuji Eso Kechizo

As mentioned above, when Kenjaku possessed the body of Noritoshi Kamo, he created the nine Cursed Womb: Death Painting through his cruel experimentation on an innocent woman. So technically speaking, all of them are Kenjaku’s offspring. Out of the nine Cursed Wombs, three of them have been revived into full-fledged, special-grade Cursed Spirits. Their names are Choso, Eso, and Kechizu.

Eso and Kechizu were killed during their fight against Yuji and his teammates, which is why Choso wants to avenge his brothers by killing Yuji. However, just before he lands the final blow to Yuji, Choso gets a vision in his head where he sees himself, along with Eso, Kechizu, and also Yuji, eating a hearty meal together with a big smile on their faces.

Choso knows that Cursed Wombs have the ability to recognize their own brethren, and as the oldest siblings, that power is even greater on Choso. That strange vision is an undeniable truth that Yuji is actually one of his siblings. Yuji may not be a fellow Cursed Wombs like Choso, but it’s clear that they both are the offspring of the same person, Kenjaku.

Fans have been scratching their heads over Choso insisting on Yuji being his youngest brother. However, thanks to what Kenjaku himself said in chapter 208 about the time when he was Kaori Itadori, it’s clear that Choso was right all along. Yuji and Choso are indeed siblings, and they both are the sons of Kenjaku, the most evil Jujutsu Sorcerer in history.
