Fans of the Yakuza series have probably experienced the spin-off series Judgment and realized just how impressive the game is overall. Judgment adds some great things to the traditional Yakuza formula, keeping the action beat 'em up roots intact while adding fun detective gameplay and some great new characters and mini-games.

Now that the news that an announcement from Sega for a Judgment sequel is imminent, fans are eagerly waiting to see just how the story will pick up following the end of the game, and what new elements will be introduced. Sega has been teasing this Judgment announcement on Twitter by releasing brief clips of the first game, but it appears the account has finally teased some new footage from the sequel as well.

For those who may have missed the news, the official Japanese Twitter account for Judgment, known as Judge Eyes in Japan, has been teasing a countdown for "Judgment Day." It appears that this event is to reveal something related to Judgment, which is most likely a sequel. Rumors began circulating that a sequel to Judgment was in development just last month, but it appears that an official announcement was much closer than anticipated.

It can be difficult to tell which clips are new and which are old, due to a few factors. For one, each clip is only a mere nine seconds long which can make it difficult to pinpoint the context of each clip. Additionally, thanks to Judgment Remastered on PS5 making the game look better than ever, it's hard to tell what footage is from a newer game. However, it appears that the Twitter account has been sprinkling in a handful of clips that feature new footage, such as a clip of our protagonist Yagami fighting a man with metal claws outside in the rain. Despite the clip being rather short, the fight sequence is full of the dramatic flair that the Yakuza games are known for.

Additionally, Sega has teased brief clips of Yagami surrounded by a group of thugs wielding baseball bats and wearing strange white masks with a red design along the left side. This footage is also brand new, and almost assuredly is meant to tease a Judgment sequel announcement. Though fans haven't seen too much of the sequel just yet, the few brief clips Sega has released is painting a dramatic return to the stylish, modern version of Kamurocho found in Judgment.

Still, it seems fans won't have to wait too much longer for whatever this "Judgment Day" announcement entails, as a placeholder premier video on Sega of America's YouTube channel appears to be set for May 7. Though most fans of the Yakuza series have probably already experienced Judgment, those who haven't should absolutely give it a look before the potential sequel is revealed.

Judgment is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, and Xbox Series X/S.
