With several years of development, It Takes Two developers have announced that the game has finally gone gold. On top of that, It Takes Two is ready about a month before the scheduled release date.

Josef Fares, known for co-op thriller A Way Out, released a tweet earlier today on his Twitter account, making this announcement. Which, in the video game development industry, implies that the company has completed all the required work for the game to be shipped out on discs.

What this essentially means is that Hazelight studios can spend the rest of the time perfecting any possible glitches or bugs in the game before it is released to fans. Leaving over a month of development time before It Takes Two's release date of March 26th, 2021.

It Takes Two is a game about two lovers, Cody and May, who get turned into dolls and have to explore their way through a fantasy world to fix themselves, as well as their struggling relationship. And just like A Way Out, gamers will be able to play this co-op game split-screen with a friend or online. Luckily, the game also comes with a "Friend's Pass" that lets gamers play with someone who has not bought the game.

In response to this, publisher Electronic Arts tweeted a GIF of the character Michael Scott from The Office, excited over the news. The company has publicly stated that EA never thought A Way Out would be successful on the consumer level, considering the team was comprised of 35 people. However, Josef Fares should not be taken lightly; his dedication to his craft is evident since A Way Out sold 3.5 million copies. So this time around, it will be interesting to see what kind of adventure Hazelight Studios has in store for It Takes Two fans.

For Josef Fares, according to an interview with Polygon, he is excited to "fuck shit up creatively" within the industry and is even considering deviating from his usual realm to make an open-world RPG. However, Fares has stated he will definitely make another type of co-op game in the near future since he loves the genre so much. In his own way, Fares stated that he trusts his instincts and what he believes in, regretting nothing about his journey in the industry up to this point. Hopefully, It Takes Two can be as fun and memorable to play for fans as A Way Out was.

It Takes Two will release on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on March 26.
