Jordan Peele has voiced his interest in making a video game, following a conversation with industry legend Hideo Kojima, who had the comedian and filmmaker guest star on his Spotify podcast. Kojima's recent title Death Stranding is now nearly 3 years old, and many are wondering what his second project with Kojima Productions will turn out to be. While remaining tight-lipped and cryptic, Kojima has been quenching the thirst of dedicated fans with an exclusive Spotify series to discuss all things gaming.

When Kojima was announced as a special guest for Gamescom Opening Night Live, the typical hype and excitement that trails him immediately manifested, with thousands pondering whatever could be the next genre inventing idea cooked up by his brain. After teasing that his studio is hard at work on new titles, the announcement was for a podcast, exclusive to Spotify, called Brain Structure, continuing his tradition for subverting expectations. Since the first episode released last September, it has acted as a method by which Kojima can freely delve into his obscure and esoteric practices, often bringing on guests to traverse topics related to the video game industry, storytelling, and everything in-between. September's final episode featured actor, comedian, and filmmaker Jordan Peele, greatly admired and respected for his work within comedy and horror, most recently writing and directing Nope.

During an interview with ComingSoon, Peele was asked about his appearance on Kojima's podcast, and questioned whether he would be interested "working in an interactive medium," such as video games. Peele replied "absolutely. I do love games," going on to describe his appreciation for video game storytelling and how effective it can be at capturing the empathy essential to so many narratives. Peele made sure to conclude his answer definitively, "yes is the answer."

Peele's discussion with Kojima began with the two expressing mutual respect for each other, with the filmmaker crediting Kojima as an inspiration, and the gaming icon heralding Get Out, Us, and Nope as breaking with the traditions of modern films, which he claimed are often devoid of character and theme, too similar in "the story, the rhythm, the sound."

Little is known about Kojima's upcoming titles, but it is public knowledge that the seminal artist is collaborating with Xbox, with one particular title expected to utilize cloud technology in a way far beyond what the industry has seen thus far. Rumored to be horror, and operating under the placeholder Overdose, there is no official information in circulation as of this moment. What may be a little more concrete is when Norman Reedus seemingly leaked the existence of a Death Stranding sequel but, once again, no official details have been announced.
