JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is among the most popular manga series in the world. The series follows a unique pattern of being split into different parts. This gives Hirohiko Araki, the series' creator the chance to experiment by implementing new ideas. Most of the time, Araki's choices have resulted in success, as demonstrated by the ever-growing fanbase.

Golden Wind is the fifth part of the JoJo series, and Stone Ocean is the sixth. Golden Wind ended on a high note as Giorno managed to achieve his dream. However, before the start of Stone Ocean, a lot of events transpired in the JoJo world. Here's a catch-up on what fans might have missed between the two parts.

6 Jolyne Commits Her Major Offense

Jolyne the main protagonist of Stone Ocean

Jolyne Cujoh's childhood was difficult. For the most part, she had to grow without the care of her father, Jotaro. It wasn't easy for Jolyne to live without having a fatherly figure to guide and support her. So, in order to get her father's attention, Jolyne got herself in all kinds of terrible situations.

At the age of 14, Jolyne got in trouble when she found David's wallet, and the latter called the police. This caused Jolyne to panic, and she stole a car to get away from the cops, but was involved in a major crash. At the same time, Jotaro left his family to go to Tokyo, which increased Jolyne's resentment towards him. After these events, Jolyne would go on to become the main protagonist of Stone Ocean.

5 Giorno's Influence As a Mafia Boss Grew

Giorno using his stand, Gold Experience Requiem

Giorno Giovanna is the main protagonist of Golden Wind. For the majority of Part 5, Giorno was only dedicated to finding a way to realize his dream. In order to turn his dream into reality, Giorno required the support of other secondary characters and he also needed a major power-up.

Giorno's Gold Experience is a powerful stand, but it wasn't enough to beat Diavolo and his King Crimson. When Giorno finally pierced his stand with the Stand arrow, it turned his Stand into Gold Experience Requiem, which is arguably the strongest stand in the series.

After killing Diavolo, Giorno took over Passione and became its leader. After the series finished, Giorno's influence as the leader of the group increased and he was known throughout the world. According to Rikiel's privilege card, Giorno was hinted to be in Florida during Stone Ocean.

4 Ermes' Sister Is Killed

Ermes Costello behind bars

Ermes Costello was the first person who became Jolyne friend. Sometime after Ermes' introduction, it was revealed why she was in jail: Ermes' sister Gloria Costello was killed by Sports Maxx. When Ermes found out that Sports Maxx was also in Green Dolphin Street Prison, she committed several crimes in order to get arrested. Eventually, she got what she wanted and she was sentenced to eight years in Green Dolphin Street Prison.

Ermes finally got an opportunity to kill Sports Maxx in prison, avenging her murdered sister. She showed why she is one of the strongest characters in Stone Ocean, as she used the power of Kiss to launch a barrage of punches towards Maxx and eventually managed to split his head open.

3 McQueen Accidentally Kills A Woman

Ermes, one of Jolyne's main allies

McQueen is an inmate at the Green Dolphin Street Prison, who was sentenced to jail after being convicted of having shot a woman. However, Thunder McQueen claimed that he is innocent. He said the woman jumped off the building, and the gun in his hand accidentally went off and shot her.

While inside the Green Dolphin Street Prison, McQueen received the Highway to Hell stand from Enrico Pucci, who entrusted McQueen to get rid of Jolyne and her accomplices. McQueen nearly succeeded in taking out Ermes, but she managed to thwart him with the help of her stand, Kiss.

2 Jotaro Tells Jolyne He's Divorcing Her Mother

Jotaro Kujo in Stone Ocean anime

Jotaro's family had a lot of issues, and most of them had to do with Jotaro's "negligence" towards his wife and daughter. Jotaro was mostly away because of his work, and thus barely spent any time with his family. He wasn't there when Jolyne came down with a high fever, nor was he there when his wife needed him. This led to a lot of problems within the family; however, this was Jotaro's way of protecting them. He didn't want to involve them in the kind of dangerous work that he was doing.

Jotaro's intentions might have been noble, but his wife couldn't stand it anymore. Two or three years before Stone Ocean started, Jotaro informed Jolyne that he and his wife were divorcing. However, Jotaro would later make amends as he sacrificed himself to save his daughter.

1 Plane Crash

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Versus in JoJo Part 6

While it may not seem like a major event, this specific plane crash had a lot of significance. The plane in question crashed on July 21, 2005, leaving just two survivors. In Stone Ocean, Donatello Versus, one of the DIO's illegitimate sons, used his Stand's power to unearth this particular memory. Versus tried to help Pucci, the main villain of Part 6, to defeat Jolyne.

His Stand, Underworld, allowed him to trap Jolyne and Ermes inside this memory. While the Stand's power is active, those caught in the memory will have to relive all the events. With the Stand's power, Versus almost killed both Ermes and Jolyne; however, they managed to escape.
