Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R is a remaster of the PS3 original which is based on the long-running manga series by Hirohiko Araki. It was first revealed at PlayStation's March 2022 State of Play event, where it showcased its large cast of characters as well as a number of changes that were made to the original All Star Battle game. This includes updating many of the characters' looks and voices, making them more faithful to their latest appearances in the anime and manga. A few new characters will be coming to Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: All Battle R as well, such as the dependable side character Speedwagon and antagonists like Diego Brando.

The original roster of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle had 41 characters, with this remaster promising that over 50 characters will be coming to the game. Out of the original 41, nine of them were DLC, which included iconic characters like Old Joseph Joestar, Yoshikage Kira, Lisa Lisa, and Pannacotta Fugo. One DLC character for this game, however, didn't originate from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, that being Baoh.

Speculation arose from the fanbase when the first trailer for All Star Battle R was revealed, where fans noticed a character known as Baoh was not shown in the character layout of the playable roster. A recent character trailer confirms that Baoh won't be cut from the roster and will be joining the anime fighter. This trailer features all of Baoh's unique quirks, such as the narrator announcing some of his special moves. This character also features a number of characteristics that would become iconic traits of other Jojo protagonists, such as Baoh shouting his name every time he attacks.

Baoh was a short serialized manga that was created by Hirohiko Araki in 1984, before the release of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. A teenager named Ikuro Hashizawa was transformed into a bioweapon known as Baoh. As a tribute to the manga, All Star Battle featured Hashizawa in his Baoh form as DLC, complete with a moveset that took inspiration from the manga.

Many fans were overjoyed to see him return to All Star Battle R where he is one of Araki's older works to be represented in this game. There are still six new characters coming to All Star Battle R that have yet to be revealed, but this lineup is looking impressive with every character from the original PS3 release looking to return.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R will launch on September 2, for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
