JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind is the fifth part of the series. It takes place after the events of Diamond is Unbreakable, and it follows the story of Giorno Giovanna. Giorno Giovanna had a big dream of becoming a "Gang-Star," however, it wasn't going to be easy to accomplish such a ginormous task.

Luckily for Giorno, he had comrades who he could trust, and they helped him to realize his dream. This wrapped up Giorno's story, and he never appeared in any of the other parts. This was a surprise considering that even some minor characters make an appearance in the other parts. So, why was Giorno never involved in any of the other parts, and what happened to him?

The Conclusion of Golden Wind

Giorno using his stand, Gold Experience Requiem

For the majority of Golden Wind, Giorno was looking for a way to beat Diavolo and reach the top of Passione. It took a lot of effort, but eventually, he managed to his hands on the Stand arrow, which was crucial to his success. It allowed Giorno to take his Stand to the next level.

With Gold Experience evolving into Gold Experience Requiem, Giorno was easily able to beat Diavolo, and claimed the position of the boss of Passione. With the position firmly in his grasp, Giorno had to make a lot of changes to the organization. Unlike Diavolo, Giorno wanted to use Passione to help other people, and deep down Giorno knew that it was not going to be easy. So, after the conclusion of Golden Wind, Giorno started to work to change Passione from within.

What He Did During Part 6

Giorno from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind

Giorno is almost never mentioned at any point in Stone Ocean, so it is difficult to know what exactly he was doing, but as we know Stand users are attracted by other Stand users. Araki mentioned Giorno once in Stone Ocean, and it was on Rikiel's privilege card.

On the card, Araki insinuated that Giorno was indeed in Florida at the time when Pucci was recruiting the other sons of DIO. It is possible that Giorno was in a meeting to meet some other gang in Florida, or he was there for some business purposes. Or it could be that like the other sons of DIO, Giorno was also attracted towards Florida, but he decided to keep his distance from Pucci. By the time Stone Ocean finished, Giorno did not make any appearance in it.

Why Did Araki Not Use Giorno

Jolyne-Mugshot

As mentioned above that in Stone Ocean, there was the mention of the other sons of DIO. Enrico Pucci, the main villain of Stone Ocean used three of DIO's sons as his goons. The unknown force of attraction could have also brought Giorno to Florida, but he never met Pucci. One theory explains that since Giorno was more of a Joestar, so he did not get drawn to Pucci's exact location. On the other hand, Ungalo, Rikiel, and Donatello Versus were more like their father DIO, and had his malice, which is why they were drawn towards Pucci. It is also possible that Pucci's malignity could have made Giorno cautious and this is why the latter decided to stay away from the epicenter of this malicious aura.

Another possible reason for Giorno's nonparticipation could be down to the fact that there were already two Joestars in Stone Ocean namely Jolyne and Jotaro. Adding another JoJo would have complicated things and taken the spotlight from Jolyne. Jotaro's inclusion in Part 6 came at a great cost as he was nerfed for the most part. The reason for his nerf was that if he had been involved for a long period in Stone Ocean, it would have resulted in Jolyne being pushed out of the spotlight. If Giorno had met Pucci, it would have been towards the end of the series, which would mean that the former would be involved in the end game when the stakes are the highest.

Giorno's involvement at that point would have drastically altered the ending of Stone Ocean. His Gold Experience Requiem is one of the most overpowered Stands in the series, and it has the ability to nullify any action that could potentially hurt Giorno. So, a fight between Giorno and Pucci would have made for a great watch, and it is plausible to assume that the mafia boss would come out on top.

Was It A Smart Decision?

JJBA Giorno In Part 5 Golden Wind

Purely from a writing perspective, it was a smart decision on Araki's part to not bring Giorno into the fray in Stone Ocean because it would have led to a different ending. It is important to remember that without the controversial ending of Part 6, Araki most likely could not have made Steel Ball Run. The reset caused by Pucci's Made In Heaven made it possible for Araki to wrap up the story of one universe and then start anew with an entirely different universe. So, keeping Giorno out of action was the sensible thing to do as it allowed Araki to try out new things.
