Stone Ocean is the 6th part of the JoJo series. It recently received an anime adaptation, which was done by David Production, and like all the previous parts, the adaptation is outstanding, and there are no complaints from the fans. Stone Ocean is among the best JoJo parts, and one of the biggest reasons behind its success is its protagonist.

The main protagonist of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean is Jolyne Cujoh. Her character development is absolutely incredible, and it wouldn't be a stretch to call her one of the best characters in the series. As the anime is still ongoing, there are certain things that the fans do not know about her.

6 Changed Her Name To Cujoh

At the beginning of the series, it was made clear that Jolyne didn't have any kind of affection toward her father. When she was a kid, Jotaro was always away on missions, and he would hardly ever be home. Even when Jolyne came down with a serious fever, he did not come back.

Incidences such as these frustrated Jolyne quite a lot, and eventually, it caused her to become a delinquent. Jolyne's hatred for her father reached such a height that she even changed how her last name was spelled. This is why Jolyne spells Kujo as Cujoh in order to avoid anyone making a connection between the two.

5 Bloodline Ended With Her

Jolyne is the daughter of Jotaro and an unnamed woman. Jolyne was extremely close to her mother, who took care of her while Jotaro was away. Jolyne and Jotaro meet inside the Green Dolphin Street prison. When she came face to face with her father, she only had feelings of hatred, but after seeing him sacrifice his own life to protect her she went through a dramatic change.

She decided to pursue the person responsible for her father's condition. Jolyne was well aware that this journey would put her life in danger. However, she did not let the possible threats dishearten her. Sadly, Jolyne could not defeat Pucci's Made in Heaven and with her death, the Joestar bloodline came to an end.

4 Yare Yare Dawa

Despite her hatred for her father, Jolyne is similar to him in many ways. Jolyne's boldness in the face of danger is something that Jotaro has shown throughout several parts. Even when her opponents have the advantage, Jolyne doesn't let it bother her, and she doesn't back out of the fight.

In addition to being fearless, she is also extremely smart. On many occasions, she used her brain to get out of tough situations. Her intelligence allowed Jolyne to use her Stand in many ingenious ways. However, the biggest similarity between father and daughter is their catchphrase. Jotaro's catchphrase is Yare Yare Daze, while Jolyne uses Yare Yare Dawa.

3 Many Opposed Her Creation

When Araki was writing Stone Ocean, he wanted to make a female lead. This was a huge step for him, as he had never done such a thing in any of the previous parts. Also, it is way more difficult to create good female characters. A good example would be Masashi Kishimoto and the female characters in Naruto. Most of the characters were bland as Kishimoto did not pay much attention to them. Even Sakura, who was part of Team 7, was handled in a very poor way.

So, Araki's decision was extremely bold as it could have caused the fans to lose interest. His editor advised him to change his lead to a male character. Thankfully, Araki did not listen to them, and he decided to stick to his guns and keep Jolyne as the main lead.

2 Has A Spin Off

Almost all the main characters in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure are given enough screen time so that the fans can enjoy watching their favorite characters in action. Jolyne being the main protagonist of Part 6 was the center of all things, and he was given the right treatment, which made her an extremely likable character.

Normally, a main character like her would have never received a spin-off, but luckily for her fans, Jolyne has a one-shot that acts as a prequel to the story of Stone Ocean. The one-shot is called Jolyne, Fly High With GUCCI. It is an independent one-shot that is not related to the story in any way. The one-shot also features characters from Golden Wind.

1 Doesn't Like Her Nickname

Almost every main character in the series has a nickname, and Jolyne is no exception. Like her father, Jolyne's nickname is also JoJo. However, she is not fond of it and doesn't like it if anyone uses it to address her.

The only person who is allowed to call JoJo is her mother. This is an indicator of how much Jolyne cares about her mother. It is interesting that despite her mother's influence on her life she never made any appearances in the series.
