Comedian and television host John Oliver roasts the PS5's design during a segment on his late night HBO talk show. Oliver isn't the only one with something to say about the console's design as fans created several PS5 design memes after Sony officially revealed it.

The PS5 got one of its biggest roastings over the weekend as John Oliver spoke about the console's design during a new episode of his talk show, Last Week Tonight. Oliver joked that "there are only two times when trampling is remotely acceptable," with one of those times being the holiday 2020 launch of the PS5.

Oliver said that he "doesn't care that it looks like an alien's waffle maker" or "a penguin designed by Apple" because Horizon Forbidden West is a PS5 exclusive. The comedian also joked that he will "stomp anyone" who gets between him and the game as he really wants to "murder dinosaur robots with flaming arrows" and he wants to do it now.

PS5 fans seem to be right there with Oliver, overlooking the console's bulky, wireless router-like design because of the exclusive games that Sony has announced. Horizon Forbidden West will also be joined by Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Gran Turismo 7. Oliver has spent a segment on Last Week Tonight shading shady car loan lenders before so a great-looking car sim on PS5 may be just the thing for him.

However, some are surprised that Oliver isn't more into potential horror game Bugsnax. Last Week Tonight largely talks about companies with clean and shiny veneers that do nefarious things and Bugsnax, which is possibly a lovely looking game with a terrifying secret, could also be a hit with the talk show host. Some others just want Oliver to know that Horizon Forbidden West isn't a PS5 launch title and so won't be available when the console launches in holiday 2020.

Most though, are happy to see video games get another outing on a late-night show. Talk show hosts like Jimmy Fallon and Conan O'Brien have shown their love for video games and now it's Oliver's turn. It's unclear if fans can expect more Last Week Tonight segments about the PS5 and its games closer to launch but if not, people may well see him on launch day, causing a scene outside a store as he tries to get a new console.
