The MCU's version of Fantastic Four has been in the works and early conversations on who will be filling the roles of the 4 heroes are already brewing. The Suicide Squad star John Cena stated that he would be up for playing the role of Ben Grimm/The Thing in the Marvel Studios reboot.

The character of Grimm has previously been played by Michael Chiklis in Fox's Fantastic Four and its 2007 sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Jamie Bell took over the role in 2015's Fantastic Four reboot. Both attempts were met with poor reviews from critics, so it's understandable why fans are hoping the MCU's Fantastic Four reboot will turn things around and make the right casting decisions.

During a Q&A for Esquire, Cena discussed the possibility of starring as Ben Grimm/The Thing and being featured in another superhero universe. "I would consider most anything. I think keeping yourself open to options and different perspectives is a good way to go about life. This would simply be a thing that I would consider because I like to keep my perspective open to new things," the actor adds. No official casting details for Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four reboot have been announced to date.

Cena has kept that same open attitude when it comes to working on new projects. Starting out in professional wrestling similar to other actors like Dave Bautista, Cena has become a Hollywood star. His recent film, The Suicide Squad, has garnered much critical acclaim and he has completed work on a limited spin-off series for HBO MAX revolving around his Peacemaker character. The director of The Suicide Squad, James Gunn, returned to the DCEU to work on the upcoming series.

In a recent trailer from Marvel Studios that recaps the entire franchise while hinting at future projects still to come, Fantastic Four was given a brief introduction with the iconic blue 4 title card. Jon Watts, director of the Tom Holland Spider-Man trilogy, was announced to helm the Fantastic Four reboot back in late 2020. Since he is still in post-production on Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans shouldn't expect further development on the reboot to happen anytime soon. Also during the trailer, it was revealed that the reboot can be expected to be released around 2023 or early 2024.

As for the other heroes, fans have been dwelling on which actors would be the right fit for these roles, with many wanting to see John Krasinski play Mr. Fantastic and his real-life partner Emily Blunt play the Invisible Woman. However, that's only speculation. In the meantime, fans can catch Cena's work in his other superhero role in The Suicide Squad, which is now streaming on HBO MAX until September 6th.

Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four is currently in development.
