Although details about the production of the Duke Nukem film are still shrouded in mystery, there's no denying that the fanbase is already thrilled at the prospect of wrestling superstar John Cena taking the titular lead.

The Duke Nukem property bounced around Hollywood for a bit, but now seems to have successfully landed and the producers are attempting to keep the wheels moving. There isn't currently a confirmed writer or director attached, but that's not stopping the casting from moving forward. The latest rumors from the production seem to confirm that fan dreams are coming true and John Cena will be tackling the role.

To celebrate the casting news, instagram artist bosslogic put together the following piece of art...

The art does an amazing job at capturing the Duke aesthetic and also reminding fans just how perfect Cena's look is for the iconic role. The film is likely still years away, but this little glimpse at Cena with the appropriate glasses, hair, and gear really helps drive home the casting.

Although fans have hoped that the last few years would break the video game movie curse with titles like Wacraft, Assassin's Creed, and, most recently, Tomb Raider, most of these titles still aren't quite living up to the dreams of the fanbase. Hopefully that will change soon and perhaps Duke Nukem will be the film to usher in an era of critically and commercially successful video game films. If not, at least it's guaranteed to have some crazy weapons.

The Duke Nukem film currently does not have an estimated release date.
