The silly VR classic Job Simulator along with its more laid-back sequel Vacation Simulator have both been confirmed as launch titles for PS VR2 next month. As one of the original VR games to hit the market, Job Simulator has become a virtual reality icon and is often one of the first titles VR gamers experience.
Job Simulator was SteamVR's first game to be announced and was included with Valve's HTC Vive during VR's early days back in 2016. The game's simple and intuitive controls, mild intensity, and amusing premise make it a perfect starter title for gamers trying to get their VR legs, and it's since become a staple among fans of the genre. The game introduces players to many of VR's core concepts, requiring players to complete simple tasks like stamping documents or pouring cups of coffee using VR motion controls. Since the game doesn't require any locomotion, it's also an excellent option for gamers with limited space or who prefer to play seated.
As Job Simulator and Vacation Simulator are both available on the original PS VR, it may come as no surprise that they'll be making a return on PS VR 2. However, since they've been confirmed as launch titles, it's still great news for gamers who may be stepping into VR for the first time when PS VR 2 launches on February 22. There's also good news for PS VR gamers who already own these titles, as the PS5 versions of Job Simulator and Vacation Simulator will both be free upgrades to claim on PS VR 2.
The PS5 version of Job Simulator and Vacation Simulator will both take full advantage of the PS5's hardware, rendering in 4K at 90fps. The games also feature an improved controller and HMD haptics to make the experience more immersive than past iterations, and the PS5's shorter load times are a welcome bonus. Job Simulator on PS VR 2 will include the Infinite Overtime content update, which lets players carry on an endless night shift completing tasks. Meanwhile, Vacation Simulator will also come with its Back to Job DLC which has players working at the island's poolside cabana to serve vacationers.
Although PS VR 2 is not backward compatible with the original PS VR, it's good to see a few games making their way onto the new system. Other classics like Beat Saber have also been confirmed for PS VR 2, and there are over 30 other games that'll be available when it launches.
Job Simulator and Vacation Simulator are available on Meta Quest, PC, and PS4, and will be available for PS5 on February 22.
