Today, 2K Games announced that the next dlc pack for their recent mobster game, Mafia 2, will be launching on September 7th, 2010.

Called Jimmy's Vendetta, the second piece of content to supplement Mafia 2 will cost gamers 800 Microsoft spacebucks or $10 if you're a PS3 owner.

A follow up of sorts to the PlayStation 3 exclusive "The Betrayal of Jimmy," "Jimmy's Vendetta" follows the same character, Jimmy, and details his exploits following the PS3-only DLC. The add-on, packs together an extra 30 missions - which include assassinations, car chases, and shoot-outs. Missions in Jimmy's Vendetta are score based, and 2K will take post your results on scoreboards - granting you bragging rights amongst your friends. Jimmy's Vendetta is not connected to Mafia 2's campaign, so if you're still not done with the single player gameplay, you can still go ahead and compete for first place on the leaderboards.

Mafia 2 didn't score too well here on Game Rant. Citing tedious gameplay and sketchy AI, our very own Rory Young issued Mafia 2 a 2.5 out of 5. Although I agree with Rory's assessment, I bought the game and played through it to the end over the span of a few days. Gameplay indeed leaves a lot to be desired, however I enjoyed the story and cutscenes, probably because I love mob movies. It wouldn't hurt if 2K could add a "mission mode" with leaderboard integration to the game's campaign in a future update, if only to add some sort of replay value to the third person shooting sections.

Jimmy's Vendetta dlc for Mafia 2

As a multiplatform owner and a fan of Goodfellas, I was planning on buying the PlayStation 3 version of Mafia 2, specifically for the extra content, but quickly decided I wanted to get the best graphical experience. There's no word yet on whether or not Mafia 2's first DLC pack, The Betrayal of Jimmy, will ever hit the Xbox 360. Like the majority of "exclusives" this gen, I wouldn't be surprised to see the missions show up on the Live Marketplace by the end of the year.

Alright Ranters, it's your turn to chime in! Any Mafia 2 owners that are looking forward to this piece of DLC? What would you like to see 2K add in a future update? Hit us up in the comments below!
