Aside from her memorable performances in films such as The Hunger Games and Silver Linings Playbook, Jennifer Lawrence is known for her fun, quirky, and so-called "relatable" personality. But not everyone is impressed with how she carries herself off the big screen, least of all Chloe Sevigny, who has been vocal about her utter dislike for Lawrence and other eccentric actresses.

The Oscar-nominated Sevigny, who is regarded as an icon in the indie film circuit, voiced her annoyance with marketable personalities such as Lawrence, stating that she finds it irritating to see The Hunger Games star play to the audiences when she guests on late-night talk shows like Jimmy Kimmel Live! or The Tonight Show. She went on to say that she finds Lawrence "too crass" for her liking, despite the fact that everyone else seems to love that aspect about her.

Sevigny's past comments about The Hunger Games star were recently resurfaced by Far Out Magazine in a new feature. At the same time, Sevigny also admitted that she understands the power and value of Lawrence's star quality, saying that her "peppy, funny girl" act is effective in getting people to want to watch the film or television show that she's promoting. Her views were the same about Cruella star Emma Stone, who she said was only palatable "whenever she's herself." It would appear that Sevigny has an issue with celebrities who are overly enthusiastic in interviews because, in her view, such a demeanor can often suggest a lack of authenticity or tactlessness.

Jennifer Lawrence looking worried in Don't Look Up

Lawrence, on the other hand, seems to be well aware that she can be a lot to handle at times. Speaking to Vanity Fair in 2021, the Oscar-winning actress said she took a long break from the limelight because she felt she was becoming oversaturated in the media and on the internet. Despite being absent on social media, she felt that people were coming across her on their news feeds too often and that people were probably getting sick of her. "I didn't have a life, I thought I should go get one," she added.

At this point in time, Lawrence has still not replied to any of Sevigny's statements. Given that she has just become a new mom and is currently involved in three upcoming film projects, it's likely that Sevigny's harsh criticisms of her are the very least of her priorities.

The Hunger Games is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
