Apple TV Plus recently unveiled a new trailer for See season 3, while also announcing that the latest chapter of the Jason Momoa series, which will consist of eight episodes, will also be the last.

Momoa is no stranger to genre TV after having had leading roles in Stargate, Game of Thrones, and Apple TV Plus' See. In See, set in a far distant future where the remnants of humanity are all blind, Momoa plays a warrior named Baba Voss who has vowed to protect two children rumored to have been born with sight.

The Steven Knight-created (BBC's Peaky Blinders, Taboo, etc.) series is ending after its third gritty season, with Apple TV Plus having, ahem, seen enough. The series will return for the third and final season in August of this year, continuing the adventures of Momoa's character, Baba Voss, as he struggles to protect his tribe and the future of his world. "We are thrilled to share this epic final chapter of ‘See,’ which delivers all the intense drama, riveting action and heartfelt emotion fans have come to expect, as well as what we think is a deeply satisfying conclusion to our story,” said showrunner and executive producer Jonathan Tropper in a statement. “Building a world without sight was a particularly unique and continuous challenge that was met through the passionate and thoughtful collaboration of a phenomenally talented and diverse team both in front of and behind the camera. The show has been a monumental labor of love for all involved, and we are eternally grateful for the way ‘See’ has been embraced by viewers around the world."

See's initial description almost reads like a live-action Samurai Jack with a few less robots and dog people and a little more post-apocalyptic society-on-the-edge thrown in for good measure. Momoa, as Baba Voss, strides the landscape trying to save a future that his people haven’t even known was possible, with even the idea of mentioning seeing being taboo within the strictures. The first season saw Baba Voss having to defend against Queen Kane (Sylvia Hoeks) and her army led by her Witchfinder, Tamacti Jun (Christian Camargo), hunted down anyone who claimed to have been sighted—putting the children with vision in peril.

The second season found Baba Voss going up against his own younger brother (and head of the Trivantian army), Edo Voss (played by Dave Bautista), in a battle for the fate of their world. Season three picks up almost a year after Baba Voss put down his brother and left his family behind to commune in the forest. Things are shaken up when a Trivantian scientist creates a new form of sighted weapons that threaten the world once again, forcing Baba to protect his tribe in his homeland of Paya once again.

The series won the Ruderman Family Foundation Seal of Authentic Representation in 2020 for having a cast in which several members were either blind or heavily visually impaired, lending a deep sense of authenticity to the world of the show. Jonathan Tropper, showrunner and executive producer of the series posted, “The journey, as always, is really about the people you come to know and love along the way,” on his Instagram last November.

See airs its final season beginning August 26th, 2022 on Apple TV Plus.
