Xbox One Exclusive Japanese Game

If there's one thing that Microsoft has been doing well lately, it's locking down exclusives for the Xbox One. The company's latest platform hit store shelves this past November, and some big-name titles have already hit the console — the latest being the highly anticipated Titanfall. While the games currently available will provide a decent distraction for the time being, gamers are already turning to E3 2014 in hopes of getting a glance at future software.

Microsoft has already confirmed that it's had to resort to cherry-picking games to showcase at its E3 press conference because there are so many in the works, but traditionally the Xbox brand has never appealed to one audience in particular. Japan has never embraced Microsoft's platforms quite like it has the native Sony and Nintendo game machines, but that hasn't stopped the house of Bill Gates from securing a big Japanese-developed exclusive for the Xbox One.

During a recent interview between Famitsu magazine and the head of Microsoft Game Studios, Phil Spencer, the Xbox employee revealed that there will be a new game coming exclusively to Xbox One from "an awesome Japanese studio."

"I’m very excited about the announcement of the release window in Japan. An unique exclusive title for Xbox One is going to be released by an awesome Japanese studio."

While that's great news for Xbox One owners that happen to be fans of Japan-made titles, Spencer went one step further by hinting about when gamers may expect to see the title unveiled.

"I’m looking forward to go to Tokyo Game Show this year, and I want to show everyone something never seen before. Stay tuned!"

While the PlayStation 4 has launched in Japan already, Microsoft has plans to release its entry into the next-gen console war later this September. Meanwhile, the Tokyo Game Show — which is scheduled to showcase this Xbox One-exclusive Japanese title — officially kicks off at Makuhari Messe convention center on September 18. Despite both TGS and the Xbox One's launch occurring within the same month, it's unlikely that the new game Spencer is referring to will make it in time for the console's launch in the territory, but there should be enough surprises to excite gamers the world over.
