Famously hilarious director James Gunn hopped on social media recently to answer some questions from his fans related to his upcoming DCEU movie, The Suicide Squad. Amongst the questions asked, Gunn revealed the official runtime of his superhero sequel film: two hours and twelve minutes to be exact.

Gunn's developed a bit of a reputation for his social media presence. Thankfully it's a good reputation, as the director has been consistently open to discussing The Suicide Squad with fans on Twitter and Instagram. He's also pretty good at calling out fake news and clickbait related to his movies, so we here at GameRant promise to be cautious of that Mr. Gunn (he's definitely reading this, right?).

On top of the runtime for The Suicide Squad, Gunn also fielded some other questions from fans on Twitter. Addressing the two-hour runtime, one fan asked whether that was Gunn's idea or mandated by WarnerMedia. Gunn responded by saying, "I wrote, filmed, & edited the best movie I could & it ended up at this length. No one ever planned for it to be this long." Gunn has confirmed in the past that despite Warner's reputation for meddling with its films, the director was given a remarkable amount of creative control over The Suicide Squadeven being permitted to essentially kill any character he wanted.

Gunn also confirmed that, unsurprisingly, The Suicide Squad does indeed have a post-credits scene, a staple of almost any superhero movie nowadays. Another fan asked Gunn which cast member was the easiest and which was the hardest to work with. Gunn kindly credited newcomer Daniela Melchior as the easiest to work with. In the film, Melchior portrays Ratchater 2, an original character created by Gunn himself, as opposed to the other members of the squad who are all adapted from the comics. Melchior is relatively new to the acting scene and The Suicide Squad is her first American theatrical film. Fun fact: she also provided the voice of Gwen Stacy/ Spider-Gwen for the Portuguese language version of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Gunn claims that his longtime collaborator Michael Rooker was the most difficult to work with, pointing out the time that the actor posted a picture of himself online while still wearing his character's wig during filming. In the film, Rooker plays a vigilante computer hacker named Savant. In the comics, Savant has a non-linear memory, meaning he experiences time differently than others, and he can come off as quite forgetful despite having a superior intellect. This is definitely Gunn being a bit tongue and cheek because if you're at all aware of the director's filmography, you'll know that Rooker has appeared in every single one of Gunn's films. This isn't the first time the director has poked fun at his longtime collaborator and good friend. They've had an ongoing fake feud for a while now, with Gunn claiming that Rooker is difficult to work with on several occasions. Back in 2020, Gunn even claimed that he was using toilet paper with Rooker's face on it.

So that pretty much covers Gunn's most recent Twitter thread. Any other questions related to the film will certainly be answered when it's released in theatres this summer. Written and directed by Gunn, the film also stars Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman, Sylvester Stallone, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, David Dastmalchian, Nathan Fillion, Pete Davidson, Sean Gunn, Alice Braga, Flula Borg, Mayling Ng, Peter Capaldi, and Taika Waititi in an undisclosed role.

The Suicide Squad will be in theatres and on HBO Max on August 6th, 2021.
