There has been a lot of talk about James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad ever since it was released, with a lot of conversations focused on the upcoming HBO Max series Peacemaker. John Cena’s fan-favorite character from the film is getting his own standalone show, giving fans a chance to continue witnessing his antics on screen, and Gunn has just shared the first look at the series.

On his Twitter account, Gunn shared an image of the upcoming HBO Max series, referring to the actors as Peacemaker’s “less-than-happy team.” The image first appeared in Entertainment Weekly and includes Steve Agee’s Economos, Jennifer Holland’s Harcourt, Chukwudi Iwuji’s Murn, Danielle Brooks’ Adebayo, Freddie Stroma’s Vigilante, and, of course, Cena’s Peacemaker from The Suicide Squad.

Those who have seen The Suicide Squad will already know how Cena’s Peacemaker will go to any extent, including committing murder, to ensure that peace is maintained. His quirky character was appreciated by fans, and they are already loving the idea of seeing more of him. In the post-credits scene to The Suicide Squad, Holland's Harcourt and Agee's Economos were seen visiting Peacemaker after he was shot by Bloodsport. While many thought he was dead, the scene confirmed that he in fact survived.

While this is the first time fans get to see Peacemaker's team in action, Gunn had previously revealed a group shot of the actors. In February, Gunn had shared some behind-the-scenes pictures of the actors while they posed on the show’s sets. The background, at the time, showed a trailer park of some sort, and it was assumed by fans that the trailer belonged to Peacemaker himself due to the color scheme selected.

The latest picture that Gunn has shared shows Peacemaker's team headquarters. A keen-eyed fan asked Gunn if the headquarters were perhaps an abandoned video or book store, and the director immediately confirmed that it was indeed a video store, titled Henenlotter’s Video. The set for the store was created in Cloverdale, a town in British Columbia.

The eight-episode Peacemaker, which is all set to premiere on HBO Max in January, will be bringing new characters from the world of the comics to the small screen. Gunn has written all episodes but has only directed five of those. For each of the episodes he directed, he drew storyboards for all the scenes before they were actually filmed. Even though Gunn has revealed his Peacemaker planning style before, he confirmed the same information when a fan asked the question.

Peacemaker is set to premiere on HBO Max in January 2022.
