Fans are constantly waiting for updates on Marvel Studios’ upcoming film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. With the last film in the franchise released four years ago, fans are ready to see their favorite heroes back on the big screen. They received great news from director James Gunn when he all but confirmed that he is all set to begin filming the much-awaited film.

Amid the news of several Marvel Cinematic Universe films being delayed, fans were worried that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 might also get pushed further down the release calendar. However, Gunn took to Twitter to confirm that the film was “neither pulled nor delayed,” and is still on track for its May 5, 2023 release.

Apart from confirming that the latest Guardians film will not be pushed back, Gunn also revealed that they are “scripted, storyboarded, crewed and casted, and ready to go in just a little bit here.” Though Gunn revealed little else, he promised that the team was going to deliver "something beautiful" to fans. In the past few weeks, several updates on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 have surfaced online, including the news of Will Poulter landing the role of Adam Warlock in the upcoming film. It seems like the cast roster is now complete and Gunn is ready to put on the director’s hat on set.

As far as the script is concerned, Gunn had shared a picture of a large stack of storyboards on his Twitter page in September. Gunn has previously revealed his process of turning the script from page to screen, which includes storyboarding every scene. The large stack of papers in the image only represented 12 pages of script, so one can only imagine how many storyboards would be drawn by the time the film is completed.

Even though the plot details are being kept under wraps, fans have already got some insight into how powerful the script is going to be. It was revealed that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 stars Karen Gillan and Pom Klementieff, who portray the roles of Nebula and Mantis, were very emotional after reading the script for the first time. Gunn even shared this piece of news on Twitter and joked about how the two were crying because they “got paper cuts.”

By the time the next installment in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise arrives, six years would have passed since their last standalone film was released in theaters. Gunn, who is responsible for bringing the Guardians franchise to life, was busy working on DC projects for the past few years, including The Suicide Squad and the upcoming HBO series Peacemaker. He had revealed that he would get to work on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 once the DC projects were completed, and he clearly stuck to his word.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is scheduled to premiere in theaters on May 5, 2023.
