It looks as if the Entertainment Software Rating Board (more commonly known as ESRB) has outed the imminent re-release of all the original Jak and Daxter games for PlayStation 4, with the organization having given new ratings for the titles initially developed by Naughty Dog. However, while the fresh listing of the platformers on the ESRB's website shows them as being PS4 titles, there's nothing on the page to indicate exactly when the games would be re-released for Sony's current generation console.

As far as the actual ratings for the Jak and Daxter games are concerned, the very first title in the series has been given an "E for Everyone" despite containing "Violence," while its direct followup, Jak 2, has been re-rated with a "T for Teen" for its "Comic Mischief, Mild Language, Mild Violence, [and] Suggestive Themes." Jak 3 was also given a "T" for the same reasons as the second entry, while Jak X: Combat Racing was labeled as being suitable for teens and up due to its "Crude Humor, Fantasy Violence, Language, [and] Use of Tobacco."

For those unaware, back in April of this year, Sony Interactive Entertainment put out a trailer to confirm that all of the aforementioned Jak and Daxter games are to receive HD versions for the PS4 as a part of the PS2 Classics line. Nevertheless, we're still no closer to discovering the exact release date of the 1080p up-rendered iterations of the games, but with the ESRB having already re-rated the titles, and with them being pre-order bonuses for Uncharted: The Lost Legacy – which comes out on August 22, 2017 – it's safe to presume that an official announcement regarding their launch date will come soon enough.

Not too long ago, another classic Naughty Dog platforming franchise was revived and given the remaster treatment, as Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy – that is, first three titles in the Crash Bandicoot series – came out on the PlayStation 4 to a generally positive reception from fans and critics alike. With this being the case, Sony will undoubtedly do its best to ensure the forthcoming Jak and Daxter games on PS4 will be handled with care.

The HD versions of the original Jak and Daxter games are currently without an official release date, but they are expected to launch for the PlayStation 4 sometime this year.
