Jade Raymond has had a successful career in the gaming industry, serving as executive producer on hit games such as Assassin's Creed 2Splinter Cell: Blacklist, and Watch Dogs. Her most recent venture saw her found Motive Studios with EA, which has worked on various Star Wars video game projects. Raymond left EA last year, we now know she has joined Google as vice president, but it's unclear what exactly she is the VP of.

Raymond made the announcement yesterday on Twitter, but stopped short of providing more details about what this means for her or Google. It seems likely that Raymond will be involved with Google's rumored video game console, which many expect to be revealed at the 2019 Game Developer's Conference on March 18.

Since Raymond's career has revolved around game production, perhaps she will be heading game development at Google. If Google is working on a game console, then it seems likely that the company would want to produce exclusive titles for that console, otherwise it's unclear why anyone would choose to buy it over an existing console or a gaming PC.

As far as exclusive games for the Google console go, there's a rumor that Sega is partnering with Google to produce titles for the new hardware. This is far from proven, but it would make sense for Google to reach out to a proven game publisher with well-known IP like Sonic the Hedgehog to boost the appeal of its console.

Another game publisher that is rumored to be working with Google is Ubisoft. Ubisoft has a history of supporting unproven game hardware, and while it's unlikely to release exclusive games for Google's platform, it doesn't mean multiplatform titles like Assassin's Creed or Splinter Cell can't come to the console. After all, Ubisoft has already worked with Google to promote its Project Stream technology, which seems like it will be a major selling point of the new console.

What's more is that the bulk of Jade Raymond's gaming career was with Ubisoft. It was at Ubisoft that Raymond helped work on blockbuster games like the Assassin's Creed franchise, Watch Dogs, and more, and so she could perhaps serve as a bridge between Ubisoft and Google.

Whatever Raymond's role is at Google, we should find out more about it in the coming weeks, especially if the tech giant's console is real.
