The Apple TV+ office comedy Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet recently aired a special quarantine episode showcasing its cast's attempts to work from home. Now that show's creator, Rob McElhenney, is interested in doing something similar with his popular sitcom It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia.

During an interview with NME about Mythic Quest, McElhenney said negotiations are ongoing for It's Always Sunny season 15 and 16, and they are hoping to get started "as soon as we get out of Mythic Quest season." The actor and producer said there is already an It's Always Sunny episode called "The Gang Gets Quarantined," but that when the show comes back they will still address the ongoing coronavirus pandemic "in the way only Sunny can."

McElhenney said It's Always Sunny is the show he dreamed of his whole life, even if the cartoonish characters in that television show lend themselves to different emotional connections than the grounded Mythic Quest. Ultimately he said he doesn't want them to be heavy-handed, but to at least bring levity and make people feel less alone.

Many other shows, including NBC's Parks and Recreation, have reunited for quarantine-themed episodes to provide further levity and to raise money for relief causes.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is airing now on FXX.
