The Winter 2022 season is not lacking in isekai anime. Princess Connect!, How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom, and Arifureta are all airing their second seasons, while Life with an Ordinary Guy Who Reincarnated into a Total Fantasy Knockout, The Strongest Sage with the Weakest Crest, and She Professed Herself Pupil of the Wise Man, Kendeshi are new additions to the genre.RELATED: Isekai Anime To Watch If You Love How A Realist Hero Rebuilt The KingdomWith so many people being sent to other worlds, In the Land of Leadale, or World of Leadale, needed to do something to stand out, a goal the anime accomplished by opting for a slice of life tone (commonly referred to as slow life isekai anime). While not devoid of action, Leadale is predominantly about Cayna settling down in her new life, and the character is so overpowered that there is virtually no tension. There are dozens upon dozens of isekai anime out there, but only a handful are similar to Maho Film's adaptation of Ceez's light novel series.

I've Been Killing Slimes For 300 Years And Maxed Out My Level

I've Been Killing Slimes For 300 Years And Maxed Out My Level anime azusa
  • Japanese title: Slime Taoshite 300-nen, Shiranai Uchi ni Level Max ni Nattemashita

Probably the most similar anime to In the Land of Leadale, I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level stresses the importance of relaxation and finding a proper balance between labor and rest. As she was overworked in her previous life, when Azusa is reincarnated into another world, she decides to take it easy, a process that involves killing a few slimes per day. After 300 years, Asuza finds that she has become incredibly powerful, but this only serves as a threat to her peaceful life.

Endearing characters, a traditional but beautiful fantasy world, and barely a hint of danger to be found, I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level takes viewers on a lighthearted and soothing journey filled with friendship and magic.

Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear

Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear anime

Slow life anime live and die by their characters since they typically place less emphasis on world-building or plot progression. Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear serves as a prime example of this subgenre's strengths and weaknesses. On the one hand, the characters – mainly Yuna and Fina – are charming and cute in a very moe-type way. Conversely, the anime does very little to differentiate its MMO setting from other isekai anime, so much so that it could be used as the stereotypical example of a fantasy world.

Nevertheless, anyone who enjoys seeing Cayna live her best life in World of Leadale while occasionally kicking a horned bear into the next zip code should have a blast with Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear.

BOFURI: I Don't Want To Get Hurt, So I'll Max Out My Defense

BOFURI I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense anime
  • Japanese title: Itai no wa Iya nano de Bougyoryoku ni Kyokufuri Shitai to Omoimasu

Technically, BOFURI: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense is not an isekai since Kaede, the protagonist, is just logging into a virtual reality game; however, it is basically the same thing. At the behest of her friend, Kaede, a non-gamer, joins an MMO and proceeds to break the game by focusing solely on her defense stat. She is also incredibly positive and friendly, an attitude that attracts other players to her.

BOFURI is a comedy about a girl playing an MMO her own way and having a jolly good time in the process. With members from her guild, Kaede spends her sessions going on relaxing adventures.

Ascendance Of A Bookworm

Ascendance Of A Bookworm anime
  • Japanese title: Honzuki no Gekokujou: Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erandeiraremasen

The main reason In the Land of Leadale's Cayna can lead a carefree life is the fact she is unbelievably powerful, so there just is not all that much that can threaten her. Ascendance of a Bookworm opts for the other end of the spectrum, focusing on a sickly and young protagonist, Myne, who spends large chunks of the first season confined to a bed.

Myne loves books, so when she is reincarnated into a world where they are only accessible to the wealthy, the girl decides to create her own. Naturally, this process is costly and trying, so she sets out to earn a living. Fantasy aesthetic aside, Ascendance of a Bookworm's world is surprisingly realistic, at least from a social standpoint. Consequently, the anime is darker than In the Land of Leadale, although it still moves at a similar pace.

By The Grace Of The Gods

By the Grace of the Gods anime ryouma takebayashi
  • Japanese title: Kami-tachi ni Hirowareta Otoko

In her previous life, Cayna (or Keina Kagami, as she was known) spend her last days bedridden and unable to move, a VRMMO her only escape. As such, it seemed only fair that she would be reincarnated into a mostly peaceful world that would allow her to lead a mostly carefree existence.

By the Grace of the Gods' Ryouma has a similar story, although he was overworked rather than sick. When he is sent to a new world, Ryouma gets to start his own business, create a few slimes, make people happy, and just embrace life. By the Grace of the Gods was also made by Maho Film, so even the animation is similar to In the Land of Leadale.
