Announced back at Sony's March 2019 State of Play, Iron Man VR is a highly-anticipated action game being developed by Camouflaj exclusively for PlayStation VR. In October, an Iron Man VR gameplay trailer revealed that the title would be available on February 28, 2020, but it seems that this will no longer be the case, as the developer has just confirmed a delay to Iron Man VR's release date.

Specifically, Iron Man VR is now set to release on May 15, 2020. This was recently announced by Camouflaj on its official Twitter account, and the developer indicates that this delay is necessary in order to "meet the high expectations of [its] amazing community." The tweet then goes on to express gratitude for fans' "patience and understanding" before stating that more details will be coming "soon."

While some fans are sure to be disappointed by the delay to Iron Man VR's release date, many players will likely prefer that Camouflaj take more time with the title rather than deliver an unfinished product. As indicated by the developer's tweet, there is a sense that Marvel properties should have a certain level of quality and polish, and hopefully the delayed launch will make it more possible for Camouflaj to match those expectations.

Iron Man VR is not the only Marvel game to see its release date pushed back this week, though, as it was also revealed that Marvel's Avengers is delayed until September 4, 2020. That title was to launch on May 15, 2020, the same day as Iron Man VR's new release date, and developer Crystal Dynamics also points to fans' "high standards" as a factor informing its decision to take more time with the game.

Additionally, the release dates for Cyberpunk 2077 and Final Fantasy 7 were also moved this week, and a number of other highly-anticipated 2020 games, including The Last of Us 2 and Watch Dogs Legion, were announced as delayed in October of last year. While the precise reasons behind all of these delays remain unknown, hopefully they will mean that developers are are able to deliver higher-quality experiences without having to succumb to unhealthy levels of crunch.

Iron Man VR will launch exclusively for PlayStation VR on May 15, 2020.
