Apple is expecting global shortages of iPhones due to the continued outbreak of the Coronavirus currently plaguing many regions around the world. Along with shortened supply, Apple is projecting that it will no longer reach its projections of 63 to 67 billion USD in revenue for Q2 2020, which ends on March 28th.

The Coronavirus has had an effect on multiple consumer products since it first began to spread. Many companies across the world are feeling the repercussions of the disease, which has lead to lower manufacturing output in regions such as China. Even Nintendo will likely face Switch supply issues, as a lower output of parts has led to fewer consoles being made in its partnered manufacturing plants in Vietnam.

"Work is starting to resume around the country, but we are experiencing a slower return to normal conditions than we had anticipated," Apple said in a statement, "As a result, we do not expect to meet the revenue guidance we provided for the March quarter." Rumors of a new iPhone going on sale soon have been circulating quite a bit recently, though it seems likely that the shortened supply may push Apple's plans for the device back further into the year.

New iPhone

A lower supply of iPhones on the market is hardly the greatest tragedy to befall the world due to the Coronavirus, though it does speak to just how much of an issue the disease has become. Apple is one of many companies currently feeling the effects of the outbreak, with speculation that even the PS5 and Xbox Series X may be delayed due to the Coronavirus.

For now, there's not much anyone can do about the shortened supply of devices coming from Asia. The disease has caused a massive humanitarian crisis in large portions of the world, causing disruptions to travel and various events. It's unclear how long it will take the world to rebound, but one can only hope for the best when it comes to the spread of disease.

Coronavirus is far more serious than new video games or devices, so, hopefully, it's dealt with soon. The disturbances to events, production, and gadgets are frustrating, but when compared to the effect it has on those infected by it or living in a region disproportionately dealing with it, having to wait a few more days for a new product is hardly an issue.

There will likely be other delays for new and existing products between now and when the disease is finally dealt with. For now, all gamers and tech enthusiasts can really do is wait out the problem and try to contribute to relief efforts.
