Developer IO Interactive is posting several new job listings in an effort to recruit more people to its upcoming James Bond game, Project 007.

IO Interactive is perhaps best known for its work on the Hitman video game series. While the anticipated Hitman 3 soon to launch, it appears that the Danish developer isn't slowing down anytime soon.

Detailed on IOI's official website, the company is looking to fill spots across a wide range of roles for Project 007. These include Gameplay Programmer, Rigger, Producer, and more. The developer is looking for over 10 positions for the title, which was first announced in November via a teaser trailer. The game will utilize the Glacier engine, the same one being used in Hitman 3. The game is officially licensed, with IOI working in close collaboration with both MGM and Eon Productions, the companies responsible for bringing everyone's favorite secret agent to the big screen.

As far as what exactly the game will consist of or how the gameplay will work remains unclear. However, what is known is that Project 007 will tell the origin story of James Bond, and how he got his "00" agent status. IOI's collaboration with the franchise's movie production studio should (hopefully) be an indication of the developer's mission to provide a high-quality AAA game. This is especially good news considering movie-licensed games have a largely egregious track record.

Project 007 is far from James Bond's first foray into video games. The character has a storied history of titles, the most recent being 2012's 007 Legends. At the time of its release though, the game was widely panned by critics and players alike, and Bond hasn't shown up in a video game since. Now, it's nearly impossible to talk about 007 video games without mentioning the legendary GoldenEye for Nintendo 64. One of the most innovative and influential first-person shooter games ever created, GoldenEye is effectively the "golden" standard when it comes to James Bond games, so it will be interesting to see if any elements or easter eggs related to the title find their way into Project 007.

Having been nearly a decade since the last 007 entry, many fans are hungry for a new game, especially one that features an entirely original story. However, the fact that IOI is just now hiring for the new game unfortunately means Project 007 is still a few years away. Bond fans that are looking for new content a little sooner will be pleased to hear that the latest film, No Time To Die, is finally set to release in April 2021.

Project 007 is currently in development.
