Thanks to the Amazon Prime television series adapting the original comic book, Invincible is getting quite popular these days. While the series is apparently going to get a live-action Invincible adaptation too, there's one leap the franchise could take that feels like a no-brainer. The titular hero, as well as the other characters that surround him, seem like a very safe bet for an eventual leap into the video game world.

The Amazon Prime version of Invincible has introduced the character to a wider audience, one that could be made up of people who might not have read the comic but did enjoy the show all the same. With all the superhero video games that are out there or on the way, an Invincible game should join those ranks, in-part because it can have a very different take on the entire genre. Given the gritty, violent world of Invincible, it seems tailor made to fit with the acclaimed open-world style of Rockstar's infamous Grand Theft Auto series.

Invincible Could Add Realistic Violence To The Superhero Video Game

One of the things that stands out in the comics and the animated series is that there is a ton of violence in Invincible, and it's all purposeful. People, including super-people, are dying or getting mortally wounded on the regular. This is where a video game adaptation could really set itself apart from current titles like Marvel's Avengers or Marvel's Spider-Man. While those games feature heroes beating up their enemies, it seems more likely they are getting knocked out rather than actually killed, which is fitting for their characters.

This is why Invincible could feel quite a bit more like a superhero game combined with Grand Theft Auto. Invincible and his father are both the equivalent of their particular world's Superman. They can fly, they are super strong and they are almost unbeatable when they go toe-to-toe with their foes. Throwing extreme violence into a superhero game could make this potential title just as popular as the Grand Theft Auto franchise.

Despite the fact that it's been a long time since Superman had his own game, he's a very popular character in the video game world. Getting to play as some version of the character could be a real draw, and playing as a version of him, rather than the traditional hero himself, also offers the ability to do different things than what someone could otherwise do with the Kryptonian.

One drawback for Superman is that he's held back by a well-known moral code. He's someone that is known as a hero who refuses to kill (even if more recent iterations have seen him kill certain enemies). He's also someone that is seen as completely unbeatable, and this is one of the reasons an Invincible video game could draw attention. Superman is very hard to beat, he's incredibly strong and nigh-unkillable, but he's not invulnerable when exposed to a piece of his home planet.

Both the comics and the Amazon Prime series show Invincible is a character that can and has taken a beating. That also adds a level of violence that once again endeers it to a GTA-style game. Realistic violence isn't quite the right descriptor considering the game would be dealing with superheroes and villains, but it would seem both better and more realistic than the superhero games currently on the market.

Invincible Season 1 is streaming now on Amazon Prime Video.
