Next year is going to be quite an interesting one for graphics card products coming out. With Nvidia supposedly launching the RTX 3090 Ti, long-time rivals AMD also looking to release something to compete, and newcomers Intel getting ready to show the world its ARC cards, all three companies are going to be vying for consumer attention. However, it may take "team blue," as the CPU tech giant is being colloquially referred to these days, some time to match the levels of the current veterans on the market, especially Nvidia, but the year after may be one to pay close attention to.

According to a recent video from the YouTube channel Moore's Law Is Dead, a leaker in close contact with the show's host says that Intel will have a "big year" in 2023, the year after the launch of its first line of ARC graphics cards, with an additional quote saying that the company is "increasingly confident" about what the future holds for its upcoming GPUs. What the source is referring to is the DG3 cards, known as "Battlemage," which is likely to be out sometime in 2023, as suggested in a recent roadmap of upcoming cards.

The host says that it's possible that Intel may be better off aiming for the mid-range market initially, with DG3 having an impact on the high-end when that gets released. Speculations have shown that the Intel ARC "Alchemist" GPU could take on the likes of RTX 3070 Ti, which came out summer this year and has 8 GB of GDDR6X on a 26-bit bus. For team blue to go for the high-end, it's possible it could wish to compete against the 3090 or the 3090 Ti, but by 2023, there's a chance that the market will already be in the midst of the next generation of graphics cards.

Given that the Nvidia 4000 series could be out mid-2022, there's every reason for Intel to want to match, or even beat, Jensen Huang and co, who are generally the front-runners in the GPU industry. Of course, there's no way to really know until DG3, and any of the ARC products, arrives, but the leaker does suggest that the company is keen on what's coming the year after next.

On top of that, there is also still an ongoing chip shortage which could last until 2023, right when Battlemage is due, so it's difficult to say what things will look like at that point. In general, it sounds like Intel, Nvidia, and AMD, are all going to be doing their best to drown out the competition, with the newbies possibly being able to muscle the other two out.
